or: Starting a Fight on the Internet

Battlestar Galactica has a lot going for it, but Avatar the Last Airbender is clearly the best show on Television. Discuss.
I should note that my cohort and his father much prefer the old BSG and do not watch the new, but their views have not influenced mine.

Where should I cross-post this for maximum impact?

As defined by this resolution, Avatar is the best show on television.

I dunno. I tend to value your opinion, but...

I only watched like 6 episodes of Avatar before giving up, but admittedly I probably gave up too soon. Does it get more serious? One of my favorites series is Trigun, which is can of retarded for the first 12 episodes and then suddenly gets better. If that's the case then I can see this maybe being a contest, but if it stays as is...it's a little too Big-Eyes-Tiny-Mouth for me.

Favorite ever? I didn't mind Trigun's being retarded as much as I minded its being ugly. Not that studio Madhouse is known for making beautiful stuff, with the (BIG) exception of Satoshi Kon's films (and maybe a few other things). I'll look at Trigun again just for you, though.

There are definitely some inconsistencies in Avatar - moments with an unwelcome or incongruous comedic tone - but for the most part the comedy is integrated into and ultimately enhances the whole.

You'd probably appreciate the research that went into some aspects of the show.

Though I stand be the whole of my resolution, I was really fishing for fights with the BSG part... :P

I don't know about favorite ever. There are a lot of other things way up there, like Bebop and Ghost in the Shell and Last Exile and such. But I thought it was really, really good. But those sorts of dumb 'comedic' moments are definitely the sort of thing that turned me off of Avatar. I'll give it a few more episodes though ( ... )

Hooray for Lampshade Hanging. I'll have to see Getbackers just for that.
