I am so glad I went to that concert last night! I can't believe it was just an idle thought: "Hey, a queer acoustic duo. I like queer acoustic duos, they're kind of my favorite thing. Maybe I'll go check this one out." I asked several friends if they were into going with me, but they weren't, and I was debating whether or not to go by myself ( Read more... )

Aw, Milwaukee is a silly city. They should come to Madison instead. ^_~

That sounds like a lovely concert - I'll look into them!

I bet you would really like them! Aww, now I'm remembering going to the Dar Williams concert with you and how great that was. I miss you.

Hmm, it appears that you locked your other entry, so I can't respond there at the moment, but I was e-mailed your reply: 'How did you find my journal? I don't think I know you.'

No, you don't know me. I found your post randomly in a LiveJournal image feed, read about your dancing and thought I'd comment b/c the 'eye contact' comment made me think of a friend of mine. Thats all.

Sorry about that. Your comment made me realize that I was really posting these pictures only for my friends and wasn't comfortable with people randomly finding them. Nothing against you personally, though. Your comment was a good and thought-provoking one. It's just about my general comfort level. Thanks for being mature about it. :)

Thank you - I'm glad. That's generally how I meet people on LJ - random comments to random posts from random people. Its like a large simulated gathering: just start striking up conversations. People might think you're weird, but whatever. Its a remarkable how social networking skews traditional interpersonal relations. Another way: on more than one occasion I learned that someone I just met had a livejournal and vice versa. So we friend one another... And within a week after meeting we know personal stuff about one another that we wouldn't mention for maybe months into the relationship. And its nobody's fault - its just naturally underestimating the power of the 'friend' setting.

Oh, and no offense taken. It's your journal, your pictures and your life. I just wanted to reply to your question, so as long as you got it, it doesn't matter which thread. : )

Yep, I was aware such things existed... A friend of mine has repeatedly found images of me that way and remarked on the coincidence. I suspected you'd found me from an image engine, but I wasn't sure. I wasn't aware they worked on entries that had been locked, though, so that's good to know.

I just saw them in Grand Junction this last week -- I've been trying to send people to their shows as I see them passing through. I think every other show since they left here has had someone I know at it.

I wish I could have gone to their workshop -- we just had the chance to talk briefly before the concert here. But I emailed 'em this morning and they may come down this way and play here when they come through next.

I cried, too. The one about his grandmother, and the one that talks about transitioning and losing friends and ... waking up a different person. That spoke to me on a very deep level.

Isn't Boxes and Bags a great album? It's been on repeat for a week in our house now.

Yes! I love Boxes and Bags. The design and everything is perfect. I'm quite smitten.

And we'll be nice and close to them in Portland, too. Next time I'll bring them cupcakes or something.
