Kanji looked at the equipment, and there was definitely stuff that wasn't sports equipment. "Well... those medicine balls aren't really for sports. They're more of a trainin' kinda thing. The roller boards are kinda just for screwin' around... uh... you need me to keep goin'?"

"Your guess is as good as mine, Klonoa. They don't exactly teach you very many games in Maverick Hunter training, so... I figured it couldn't hurt to experiment a little."

"Every little bit of knowledge helps," X replied, watching in fascination as Klonoa balanced the ball. "Ah... we don't really have a lot of downtime back home. But when we do have free time, there's lots to do. We have cable and internet, there's a library and a park within walking distance of headquarters, we can use the ride chasers if it's not too busy, and if we have the whole day off, then we can teleport to almost anywhere we want to go."

Jeez Klonoa how could you. X would be direly offended if he weren't so busy watching the super cool balancing tricks and all. "Oh, ride chasers? Um... take a motorcycle, remove the wheels, and make it float. Then put an energy canon on the front. That's a ride chaser, more or less." It was sort of a rough description, but it was close enough, at least. X paused for a moment, then...

"Hey, how'd you do that?"

What? Keeping a ball on your shoulders is kind of cool.

Metalman was not exactly one for sports, either. He had the aptitude, sure, he was pretty agile and had a mean throwing arm, but lacked genuine interest. Disregarding the violent aspects of athletics, of course; he figured he could maybe get behind boxing or wrestling or even hockey if it meant being allowed to throw his weight around. But that wasn't Metalman's style, and deliberately beating up students under the guise of 'having fun' would certainly not be tolerated, so if it came down to whacking a puck around he would just idly observe on the sidelines. Maybe, in fact, learn a thing or two about having fun....Not to mention the only sport he actually did enjoy was arguably less exciting than some of the potential activities displayed. True, the Robot Master did put his own 'spin' on the game, but the kids seemed to be favoring those which were naturally played with mallets, fast-moving balls and other potentially deadly objects. Metalman would keep mum on the subject for now, and hide his interest by hanging around by the ( ... )

Foolish Metal. There's no such thing as hiding your interest when X is on the prowl. At some point or another, X had reclaimed the croquet mallet from Zero. Obviously it was far easier to comprehend what sort of mysterious unfathomable recreational activity involved the use of hammers if he happened to be carrying one. Upon spotting Metal, however, X graciously made his way over to offer the mallet to him.

"Are you here to play, too? We've always got room for teachers."

Surely those carnival test-your-strength games don't usually count as actual sports-- oh no no look at the stripes that is definitely a croquet mallet. Appropriate given the old timey feel of the castle. Metalman's eyes trailed slowly up from the mallet to X's earnest expression and he lifted a hand in polite declination with a small shake of the head. Truthfully, he didn't want to embarrass himself by doing poorly in front of a bunch of (supposedly) judgemental young people. Apparently, he was simply too cool for croquet.

"I just thought I'd drop by to see how everyone was faring. Sports aren't exactly my...thing." His curiosity, however slight, was nevertheless betrayed by the constant flicking of his gaze to the pile of equipment over X's shoulder.

Don't think X didn't see through that act, Metal. He hung around too-cool-for-school types all the time. A little bit of encouragement certainly couldn't hurt, right? Especially if it let Metal use the I'm-just-doing-it-as-a-favour card. "That's too bad. We need one more person to even out the teams. Besides... I really think it'd set a great example for the rest of us if we had a teacher helping us out. Most of us have never played before, so we're a bit lost, you know?"

"..." Metalman fixed X with a characteristically steely eye, seemingly unmoved by the Reploid's clever appeal to his obligation as an authorital figure. It had initially come across as more of a guilt trip than anything else, but the more he thought about it (and he did for several good long seconds) and the more he stared at X's painfully innocent and strikingly familiar face (which was what he had coincidentally been leering at those several good long seconds), the more reasonable X's case became ( ... )

Axl had no clue what they were going to do, but it was better than sitting around doing nothing.

"Hey X!!" Axl yelled as soon as he entered, waving his arm as he walked over to X.

"Axl! Glad you could make it." X's greeting was just as cheerful, though maybe not as... loud. "I don't suppose you have any ideas about what to play, do you?" It wasn't that likely, considering Axl was supposed to be a hunter too, but... hey, maybe in the future the Maverick Hunters have a softball league or something. No harm in asking, right?

"Nope." Axl immediately replied. And then he thought for a little bit.

"Weeelll I did see some kids kick a ball around before." He said with a light shrug. "They were chasing after it too."
