Magical murders

The trouble with writing a murder case in a universe with magic is that someone who's being framed can't get away with saying 'the guy was clawed up about fifteen minutes ago very badly and there's no way I can get blood out of my claws that quickly, even if I try. Have a look ( Read more... )

LOL, that's the problem with magical/sci-fi universes, there's a whole new set of rules!

But, you get to make up your own rules, so it evens out. :) I hope you figure it out!

I would point out that a killer can clean up a mess from themselves, but if they did get up close and personal with their victim, the *victim* will have physical evidence from the killer. Did they fight back at all? Was the killer injured? They could leave something of themselves behind because rarely people are so clever and prepared, particularly if the murder was performed spontaneously, they wouldn't clean that kind of thing up. People think of themselves, not the victim or the victim's surroundings. Tissue, fiber, footprints, all those things can be a factor in an investigation.

Has magic in your world been used as a cleaning agent before? If magic isn't omnipotent in your 'verse, there could simply be a lack of magic that is capable of cleaning!

If it is, uh. I'd take the suggestion above.
