My critical Utopia

I got the Utopia I wrote back, and my tutor was very pleased with it, apparently. I thought I'd share it since apparently the idea I was trying to convey was successfully conveyed. Admittedly it worries me a little that (a) my tutor happily described it as containing "post-post-modern irony", (b) I understood exactly what he meant by saying that, ( Read more... )

wow!!
it's really good! a great sketch of a society with its own internal disputes, assumptions, founding myths, etc.
seems a bit nanny state-esque, but i may be getting that impression because you were explicitly trying to provide voices/characters that said so - trying to pre-empt that criticism, as it were.

Utopias tend to be nanny-state-esque by their very nature. I was trying to veer away from that somewhat, although I don't know how well I succeeded.
