Five Year Anniversary

Today's my five year anniversary of taking possession of my place. My diary entry from 28 November 2003 says "Dry, long grass, the paddock seems smaller, truck noise, leaf damage to trees - not sure it will be very satisfactory ( Read more... )

Feel free to come for a visit sometime if you ever want to take a drive out of the city! Although from now until next winter, it tends to get less and less beautiful each month!

I find it pretty much endlessly entertaining to try to keep it looking nice, and make it better.

That's Sherry in the middle of the first picture, not long before shearing. Which reminds me, I must download the photos on my camera of her HAVING SEX earlier this week. Godparents are supposed to oversee that kind of thing, aren't they?

I bought my land because of the horses. The alpacas and llamas just have higher novelty value!

Above all, if you don't stop and think about possible fires, it looks so peaceful. You, the animals and the occasional human visitors. Possibly time to sit and think while surrounded by friendly flora and fauna.

As I was just saying to Tweed, I find the long list of jobs that always needs doing offsets the peacefulness almost entirely, unless it's dark, or raining heavily, or so hot it's impossible to do any work outside! But I love having a sense of space around me, even if it comes with a heavy workload to look after that space!
