New cria

Oct 28, 2008 19:57

The new cria I've been waiting for all month finally arrived yesterday, right at the end of the normal gestation range and late in the day, rather than in the morning when most cria are born.

It's quite a relief! In another couple of days we were going to conclude that we had a definite problem.

Shearing is tomorrow. There's a slight complication, though, which is that we have to keep them under cover tonight in case it rains. Mom is coming out here this afternoon/evening (when, as you know, I'm normally otherwise engaged with a certain TV program I'll now be too embarrassed to watch!) to see what we can do to turn my shed into an alpaca hotel.

Oh. Oh. She's beautiful.

Are you sure you weren't reading FIC?

No, I was at least in the living room, which has a view of the alpaca paddock! She gave birth behind the trees, though, which would have required me to be actually out in the paddock to see.

Until I get through the episodes I'm really more interested in the canon than the fanfic, anyway. And I'm prepared for the fact that there may not be much good stuff that's season 5 compliant.

She is beautiful!! I love that colour, and her eyes are so big and dark. She's a real looker, Zebra. She looks like she's in top nick too!

I think this is the biggest, strongest one we've had so far. Probably a benefit of being fully cooked instead of slightly underdone!

Thank you. This one was getting late enough we were starting to be concerned.
