House 8x21: the lavish payoff continues

Again, the episode and this post come with a strong warning for medical angst.

The penultimate episode )

It's kind of you to care! It's already gone way beyond my wildest expectations for amazing House/Wilson content this late in the piece. They just have to keep it up for one more week!

Just read this and now I'm crying all over again. Thankyou so very much.... LOL

You picked the perfect moments and lines and caps to capture the very essence of this episode. One that I know I will be watching a few more times before next Tues' finale.

It took me ages to get the screencaps, since I had to keep watching the scenes over and over and over!

I can hardly believe the riches we've been given. It's truly beyond my wildest expectations, and they were pretty extreme.

*fingers crossed for one more week like this*

Now that's a pimp post! Wow!

It's odd seeing Wilson unshaven as well. I expect men on tv to either have permanent stubble, like House, or to be perpetually cleanshaven.

What was the stunt?

I don't know why Wilson has suddenly stopped shaving and have been wondering about that.

House filled the cafeteria with people who were supposedly Wilson's ex-cancer patients and who stood up to give him a standing ovation, but none of them actually had been his patients and Wilson figured that out right away.

and he has to go to prison for that?

No, for causing a lot of damage to the hospital. He put something in the plumbing and the consequences were out of proportion to what you might expect. A commenter on a professional review I read put it like this: "Such a thing is impossible from a toilet malfunction of any kind." Still, it brings on yet more angst, so I won't complain too much.

Also, as even someone who hasn't been watching could tell me, obviously Wilson has stopped shaving due to the enormous upheaval in his life. I just meant that it's very noticeable and kind of odd, when he's still wearing a suit and tie to work. I would like to see him shave again!

I just wanted to say, I've been reading your recaps of the episodes in lieu of actually watching (I'm going to buy the DVDs at some point and marathon the last two seasons I haven't been watching), and really enjoying them. It's making me WANT to watch the show again. And while I love angst, I need to decide if I'm able to deal with this, particular brand of medical angst yet.

I completely understand about the cancer storyline being too close to home. I feel kind of guilty because it should be for me, too, and yet I'm eating it up because it's brought so much wonderful emotion to the surface.

If you watch all of S7 and S8, you'll know what I mean by "payoff"! As you probably know, S7 is the Cuddy relationship season. I was surprised to enjoy at least the first half of it quite a lot anyway. Most of S8 has been uninspiring. I like the new team well enough, but many episodes focused mostly on them, not enough on House and barely at all on Wilson. Wilson was often just a caricature who appeared once an episode to tell House that he should be behaving differently. However, the last three episodes have made up for all of that!

Just skimmed this as I'm about to leave for our vacation, but wow, I'm so going to watch this.

Yay for them finally getting back to the heart of House/Wilson, even if they're ripping our hearts out to do it.

I love to be able to extract the word "wow" from lapsed House watchers, who are the target market of these posts!

Enjoy your vacation and enjoy the episode when you get to see it.

I'd say lapsed House watchers are also the target market for these episodes.

As soon as we get back home, I'm downloading 20 and 21. And will be biting my nail in anticipation of 22.
