Sooooo...this is
okane's fault. :P She made this comment on my first Shuuhei/Kazeshini story, and then
liralen made another comment, but by that time the muses were all over this shit*laughs* No, really. I wanted to write more with these two characters, I just didn't know how. The aforementioned repeat fic-enablers just happened to do their thing at just

*laughs* I've just been lazy lately. I could have been posting more, I just haven't gotten off my butt and polished everything up for posting.

I dunno...Debs would be better at such things than I. I just clicked the location link out of curiosity.
And...back to my paper. When I finish this, I can really start getting excited for May! (and the 12 assignments I have left over the next 9 weeks) woohoo!!!

If you liked the almost-but-not-quite-there interaction in this one, you're going to love the next one. This is Shuuhei and Kazeshini when they're cooperating, which...says a lot, come to think of it.
They aren't enemies. They don't hate each other. They're partners, they're part of each other, and they do care about each other. They just don't see eye to eye half the time, and that's on a good day. I get the oddest sense of inevitability whenever I write these two--like one day, they're either going to finally get it, or finally fall completely. And I'm not quite sure what that means, either way, just. Yeah. Definitely complicated ( ... )

That makes far too much sense. He is human and Kazeshini is not. I love what Kazeshini can work with to make sure his shinigami doesn't snap, break when so young, he'd figure it out.
I really like your Shuuhei. *happies*

...Even allowing for the marked differences between a human and a zanpakutou, the two of them really have such different viewpoints. So much of the conflict between them is that they're looking in two different directions and swearing that they see the same thing.
I'm liking Shuuhei much better now than I used to, I'll admit. *grin* Aaaaaannd, I'll stop babbling now. I should know better than to reply to comments late at night.

I think you did hit the mark. Everyone has a breaking point -- this is Senbonzakura and Byakuya in On His Knees, only sharp and immediate rather than creeping up on them over time. "MY shinigami. You're not allowed to break. :P"
And it makes sense that Kazeshini hates Tousen. (You're up to date in the manga, right?)

True! And their personalities make the struggle completely different for each shinigami. (I know I'll never get tired of reading them.)
Tousen... hmm, it's hard to explain. He and Shuuhei and Komamura had a massive fight, extending over several chapters, and we found out a lot more about what Tousen put himself through all those years leading up to his defection, and the effect of it all on Shuuhei. It was mixed up with some stuff about Tousen's new powers that a lot of people found cheesy, but the whole thing's heartbreaking in places; you should read it for yourself. (Canon is still in the fight scene above Fake Karakura Town, but a lot of stuff has gone down since everyone assembled: some awful, and some awesome, as always happens. >_> We found out more about Katen Kyokotsu's powers too, and Shinji released his shikai, and Toshiro went ballistic on Aizen, ( ... )
