I've been reading parts of the same blog I linked to last time. These two paragraphs stuck out to me like wailing, spinning spotlights on a dance floor

Both of them sound about right. Perfectionists do this, too, setting themselves up for failure so that they don't have to face actual failure.

The hard thing is to recognize what is actually going on and try and break the cycle. It is hard; it can be done, though.
