Disclaimers: I own nothing except plot. Story is fictional, unless it really did happen to someone in real life…. :x
Summary: An invitation from Mayuko may jeopardize Kamiki’s life long career, should he accept or decline?
Author's Note: I was having a hard time with the ending. No matter how, I can’t end it properly. =__=;; Even now, the ending still left you hanging… it’s not a proper ending. Sorry.
"Hey, do you want to go see 'Akunin'?"
Her sudden question took him by surprised.
"I received them from fans." Not waiting for his reply, Mayuko continues, "They thought I might like it so they sent me 2 tickets. My friends have already seen it, so I thought I'll ask you. After all, I remembered you said you like Tsumabuki Satoshi-san."
She smile brightly, thinking to herself that Kamiki, of all people, wouldn't refuse her way too generous offer, but he just stares back at her with guilt.
No doubt, Kamiki is grateful for her offer, and he's touched that she still remembered he looks up to Tsumabuki-san. But to go to the movie with her and risk catching the public attention, that's something he's not sure he's ready for. After all, the other day, his management was giving the Amuse boys a long lecture about going out with their girlfriends.
Not that Mayuko and him are at that stage yet... But, even just their usual, secret meet ups always caused Kamiki to be jittery, afraid that the sneaky paparazzi is at the corner, trying to snap their pictures together.
Also Kamiki has heard a lot of stories (from Yamada and Yuto) about talents who caught going out with their girl friends and usually ended up kick out of the agency. The Johnnies are quite familiar with that so it must be true. If he was caught, he will probably be in a lot of trouble from his management. He might even be forced to quit and become a normal boring guy, instead of the popular Kamiki that took him all his life to build. He'll have no motivation and fail college to becoming a ronin for 2 to 3 years. Even if he managed to pass college, he'll be just a salary man. And then...
"Well?" Mayuko's voice broke his train of thoughts, "Would you like to..."
"I'm sorry." quickly cutting her off, Kamiki said with resolute, "I can't go that day."
"Oh," Mayuko is clearly disappointed, "That's too bad."
"I'm sorry." Kamiki apologetically smiled, hoping his rejection doesn't affect her too much.
"It's alright." Mayuko regained her bright smile, "I'll just ask Yuuki-kun or Shota-kun, I'm sure either of them will be glad to go."
‘Yuuki-kun? Shota-kun? Are they someone she knows?’ Kamiki wondered.
Noticing his confused expression, Mayuko smiles, “You know, my co-stars from ‘Bakuyakou’ and ‘10 Promises to My Dog’."
Hearing her explanation, his face quickly darken as he suddenly feel a twinge of something deep in his heart, though he didn't really know what it was.
"You should know that the movie is well acclaimed internationally, so tickets are supposed to be really hard to find." oblivious to Kamiki's darken expressions, Mayuko continues, "Yuuki-kun mentioned once that he likes watching movie, especially the dark ones. And since he's so busy recently with the drama 'Moteki', he probably won't have time to watch this. I'm not sure about Shota-kun though, I'll have to ask if Yuuki-kun refused."
Kamiki's eyes blared up with each time the girl mentioned the boys' names.
‘Why does she look so happy talking about other guys in front of me? And why are they already on a first name basis? Does Mayuko planned to go on a movie date with them?’
In his frustration, Kamiki lost all the reasoning he has established before.
"I... I'll go!"
"But I thought you're busy." Mayuko tilted her head to one side.
"It's fine. I'll cancel the plan." Kamiki shakes his head, determined not to let other untrustworthy guys go anywhere near her.
Seeing his flustered expression, Mayuko laughs as she hands him the tickets, "You're really are such a Tsumabuki-san fan boy."
Holding the two tickets in hand, he turned to her, confused, "There are… two tickets..."
"Yup," Mayuko grins, "I told you before that my friends and I have already watched them, so I'm giving it to you. You can go with a friend so it won't be lonely."
Plucking up all his courage, Kamiki weakly asks, "Aren't you going with me?"
"That's not good." Mayuko shakes her head, "What if people see us and thought that we're going out or something. My management will be in a fit." Noticing Kamiki's disappointed face, Mayuko quickly added, "But of course you can go and asked a girl you like. I'm sure you guys will have a great time. But don't get caught!"
Mayuko laughs at her own joke as she says good bye and walks off to her next engagement. Kamiki was left standing there, staring at the two tickets in his hands, he could only let of a disappointed sigh.
