And just saying this because I know lots of people give me that bewildered look behind their computers or whatever and think it's just lame

LOL I just get that some times and decided I'd write about it. It's really annoying that you can get the vibes that some people think that about you from behind the computer.
*pat pat* haha, I get that too when I was in Japan, especially during my 1st year there. Even some of my closer friends assume that I'm rich and living off my parents just because I'm self-funded. It was really frustrating and upsetting. There I was struggling to get baito and making the best that I had and they were assuming that I was shopping and eating sushi/sashimi everyday. =_=|||
haiz... but actually even now that I'm working and have the money to go for holiday, I still dislike some 'friends' who demand that I buy omiyage for them. Just because I go for holidays a lot doesn't mean I'm rich. I save up and go on budget trips... but they don't get it. orz
Amen! Just because I may be making a lot more than others because I'm in the Navy, it doesn't mean I can splurge whenever I feel like it. Which is why I signed up for a savings plan last month.
From my mom experiences, no one cared for her when she's hard on money after she moved to town. but then, she managed to save up more money and people (relatives family) started to... you know, trying to get close and such...
i know that feel bro....XD I want to buy lotsa useless stuffs but since I'm still a non-working student, even though I could afford it, I try to avoid buying it if it seems impractical... I save the money instead for more important uses...
I don't want to always rely on my parents(that's why I applied as a student assistant in our uni. to pay for my misc needs), and it feels much better to spend money that you yourself worked hard for

That's not being stingy. That's what you call frugal and those people should know the difference between the two. /o\
