I read this article in the herald today.
i had a couple of thoughts.
first was a old one: what the hell is generation Y? it's written about all the time but it doesn't exist. not really. it's useful from a surface analytical perspective i suppose but once you start going deeper it begins to unravel. i guess that's just the social sciences.

getting EVERYONE to change is not required. all that is required is getting enough people in place to start the change and create enough of a different way that the others are an annoying but not insurmountable exception. change has to start somewhere. arguing against change because it cannot be all encompassing immediately is defeatist thinking of the worst sort. it allows no prospect for action ever ( ... )

Its unfortunate that this time I'm totally on side with Nick, because I do so like picking on him. From the view of someone who spends their life overthinking things (lol, that's totally my new job description), who cares if not everyone wants to take a stand. I know for a fact that our generations right-conservative movement is well mobilised, and I'd rather die in a world I tried to change but didn't fully succeed at than live in a world I didn't try to change for the better. Regardless of what classifies as `better' (yeah, I'm watching you moral relativists.)
