Family legend says this was deliberate timing

Back from another weekend in Seattle for Daddy & BabySister's birthdays. Yes, they've got the same birthday. They also look freakishly alike. We went down for a resort type trip so Dad could play with his camera & BabySister could spend a lot of her birthday money. I spent a lot of time at Borders, bewildered ( Read more... )

Well.. hmm.. I already told you about Brad Meltzer's Book of Lies ..

One series that I am LOVING is the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. (fantastic Werewolf lore ^_^)

The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik is pretty god too (that is if you like Dragons).

Oooh! Yes! Superman-related novel! SO on the top of my to-read list.

I do like a well-done dragon story. I'll have to try Temeraire.

Kim Harrison's "The Hollows" series. They're not perfect, but there's only one or two wobbles in the story across the series and one of them is most probably the result of publisher influence. (She has two female leads, and she definitely explores them getting together, but then in about the 5th book or so, right as it's make or break for the 'will they/won't they" question, that story line is dropped like a hot potato.)

I've also heard really good things about "The Hunger Games" YA series by Suzanne Collins.

Guh. Little Prince. I read it when I was 11 or 12 & it had such an effect on me that I haven't been able to read it again. It was GREAT but I never want to be overwhelmed with emotions like that again. It was TIRING. *L*

Oh dear. I would've been okay if I didn't know I was going to be overwhelmed.

BTW, what are your thoughts on the Percy Jackson series? It piqued my interest since I used to devour Greek mythology like these young'uns seem to devour Bakugons.

They're currently on my reading docket.

Riley claims they're very Harry Potter-esque, in that they have a similar set-up and writing style...i.e. somewhat juvenile. It's not the best, but not the worst. Certainly enjoyable, if only because they modernize Greek Mythology and it's just a bitchin' kind of concept. She recommends them.

A girl who lived down the hall from me in first year Uni and works at a different incarnation of the bookstore chain I work at adores them to pieces. So there you have it.

*snerks* Bakugons. My co-worker Astley was talking about Pokemon on Saturday night. OH GOD IT SCARED ME BECAUSE HE JUST TURNED LEGAL.

Bakugons, man. They take over the house when the kids are over. Even more painful to step on than Decks but less destructive than paper airplanes launched from the second floor landing.
