Bread II

Well, the helpful responses to my inquiry about gluten free bread lead me by a roundabout method here, which lead me to the Farmers' Market on Willis Street this morning. Awesome. I had a flatmate who is very allergic to gluten, and learned a lot about cooking for gluten-free people when living with him.

Dinner has always been meat and 3 veg for me, so not a lot has changed for me there. For breakfast I eat cornflakes. It's lunch that's always been the real problem in the past.

true, but he was so allergic that the gluten in Soy Sauce, or gravy, or commercial chicken coatings would get him. So i learned to cook without those things. Also, there were vegetarians in the flat.

WHY did i live there again? :D

You can make gravy with rice-flour, and it tends to come out better than the wheat-based stuff. So are rice-flour based sausages BTW, although they tend to be more expensive. As for mashed potatoes, I discovered when making it for Vegans that it's really good if you make it with coconut cream instead of milk. I make it that way all the time now, out of preference.
