Overall I don't like What Not to Wear cause I think they are mean. I've caught some recently cause I don't jump up to change the channel, and while I can see positive changes, I still think they are MEAN :P. I know when I was larger sometimes shopping resulted in tears cause I could NOT find anything I liked, and I hate to see that stress impressed ( Read more... )

My friend donia was on What Not To Wear about five years ago and she enjoyed it. And she was bigger at the time, and very busty, and baudy, lol. She said Clinton and Stacey were actually pretty nice and played up the 'mean' on the show. She also found shopping very stressful, and said that was the hardest part of the show for her - shopping, shopping, shopping. But overall it was a positive experience. :)

Well, that's good. I'm just very sensitive, and seeing people cry when they try to shop breaks my heart, heh. AND I always wonder why they have to spend SO MUCH MONEY on their new clothes, I mean, I know they get $5000, but then they only get a few outfits. I did see one about a fairy girl that didn't like the boutique shopping (she was a thrift store girl), so they went to the Gap, THAT I kinda liked. Make that money stretch!!

I'm glad it was positive for her. That's the most important part, right? Omlettes, egg breaking, I get it. I just don't necessarily wanna WATCH it ;).

Yeah that show can drive me nuts too. I had a roommate who wanted to nominate me for the show. I told her flat out I would not do it. Mostly do to the fact I knew I would loose all my geek tee shirts and that was not acceptable.

Well, and THAT'S a big part of it too. I have some clothes that I LOVE that only gets worn when I need comfort, that I know aren't pretty. But if you're PMSing or fighting with your sig other, then style's not exactly in the forefront of your mind, heh.

Yep. And I also have a quirky scene of style. At the time she wanted to get me on the show. I was wearing button down shirts with vest that in style again. And I have a few vest I was wearing with different shirts. She did not like this look. Every one else thought I was adorable in those vest.

Part of the problem is that she was a size 2 at the time and put a lot of time and effort into her looks. And she tended to dress with the current trend where I followed trends that worked better for me and were less popular. She also kept trying to get me in to clothes that just don't work for a size 14 that I was at the time.

Yeah, my style is evolving as we speak. :P No one's suggested to my face that I should be on it, but especially since I just bought a bunch of new clothes, it'd be a no, cause, DOOD, I LIKE my new clothes! Damnit.

I think they are mean too. But, really, I don't get much chance to watch tv that I want to watch anyway, so I've only caught it once or twice.

Well, I do watch a lot of kids shows, but I make some time for discovery, travel, TLC, Food Network... heh. And I DO watch Jon and Kate plus 8 with Devin, so that's how I stumbled upon that show in the first place.
