Wow. Did you guys see this?

Yesterday, Angry Joe (an Internet reviewer who saw The Last Airbender, hated it and checked out the original series out of curiosity. Needless to say, he liked it and is now a fan!) tweeted about a Youtube video where M. N. Shyamalan sat down with the Elder Gods Mike Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, the two creators of Avatar: the Last Airbender. ( ( Read more... )

I actually thought from M night's statements he'd be at least, somewhat respectful of the show. Though I didn't think it'd be bad untill I heard they cast Jesse McCartney.

I'm pretty sure everything went downhill after that once Mike and Bryan realized what a fail M Night was creating.

I STILL don't know what their opinions about it now that it's out. It annoys me!

I think I heard somewhere that they've basically only said "We would have done things differently". Which is probably their nice way of saying " It was a piece of shit".

I mean I think they profited from the movie? So they probably had to sign documents saying not to criticize the movie too much.

I think that the only good thing this pile of goat crap spawned was that viewers of the movie who weren't fans of the show checked the series out and are now fans of it. (i.e.what Angry Joe did after being pressured by his fans. XD)

Yeah, they are pretty much oblidged by corporate executives to not say anything bad about the movie. Sadness.

i don't have twitter, but i hope folks are letting angry joe know that this interview was actually shot SEVERAL years ago, before the movie's release, before even the casting was announced. this interview was on the DVD box set for season 2 (released in september 2007) and it basically served as the announcement that shyamalan was making the movie. so it's not so much the creators sucking up to him as they had no idea how badly he was about to bastardize their life's work.

AJ's probably aware of that (an annoying thing about Twitter is that you can never read comments on another person's tweet, but I supposed someone pointed that out to him) I'm aware of the date of the interview, though (The Season 3 finale wasn't out yet.) But it's still sad considering how happy Mike and Bryan looked about it. :C

DAMN YOU, M. NIGHT!!!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!1!!!

Erm, I know it's been a running trend for a while so no one person is solely to blame, but I don't think it's a good idea to butcher the man's name in an argument about disrespectful/ unfair casting.

Shyamalan is Shyamalan, and personally the only occasion I see fit to change it is when he's rightfully nicknamed Shyama-Hahn XD

Back to the topic: watching that video makes me sad. BUT, knowing Mike and Bryan have mentioned that they are upset about the movie does make me feel much better. I mean, although they didn't go into detail about what was upsetting them, the fact that they had people sporting movie merchandise removed from the lineups for their most recent autographing event is all the detail I need...

Eh, I'm mostly making fun of the sheer sucky-ness and continuity raping of the movie, not the whole "race-bending" fiasco.

Yes, the fact that Bryke don't like (read, despise) the movie is a comforting notion, and yet, it isn't.

Mike and Bryan had faith in the movie. They trusted M. Night! And what does he do? Why, he makes a movie that Sokka could have written/directed/edited better while high on cactus juice.

I would so see that movie

LOL a movie about Sokka on cactus juice would definitely be far more riveting than the sad excuse for an adaptation.

As for Mike and Bryan having trusted M Night, I think as depressing as the outcome of that has been, there was no way they could have foreseen this huge a failure coming- much less do something about it. Plus, Nickelodeon was mostly responsible for the agreement to make the live action adaptation. Sadly Mike and Bryan don't own Avatar. Nick does =/

That movie would kick ass.

*Sigh* Alas... Oh well. We still have "Legend of Korra to look forward to! :D

Real French. Nice.

Okay, the first half of the second one was mock-french, but yes, I am fluent in "ze language of ze love-making, non?" :P

I can tell you that French is actually an overly complicated language with 30 million grammar rules and about as many exceptions to each of these rules.

Ex: The word "Calembourg". Huge word right? So what is the translation in English? "Pun" Yeah.

Anyways, as for teh hindzsight (lol), I do indeed find it sad that The Elder Gods Mike and Bryan couldn't have had Toph's bullshit detector ability to see that M. Night LIES!!!! in this interview.

Every single time I see that interview I want to cry. M Night seems so genuinely devoted to making the movie a success, and then we end up seeing the result and it's like WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED HERE.

I REALLY wish that the Elder Gods could say something about this.

Well, there ARE other people to blame besides M. Night. *coughfuckyouParamountcough* but, yeah. I honestly don't know what the raging flying fuck happened here.

Alas, the Elder Gods' powers go only so far (Corporate executives=PURE EVIL). They shall overcome this steaming pile of dog shit of a movie and will bring us, hopefully, a new age of awesomnes in "Legend of Korra". *Dramatic music of kickassia*

Kickassia=Internet movie filmed with minimum (if any) budget over the course of four days in Nevada featuring unprofessional actors.
Lenght: 90 minutes. (Roughly)
Quality-o-meter: ROFLMAOLMALOL, THIS IS AWESOME!!!!1 (i.e.: You kick ass are awesome)

The Last Airbender=Intended blockbuster summer movie with a budget of +280million$ with proffessional actors, directors, editors, whatever and based on an award winning show.
Lenght: 90 minutes (You son of a---)
Quality-o-meter: OMFG THISSUXXORZ HARD UFAILZ @LYF 4EVAH!!!!1 (i.e.: You are SCUM.)

Sad, isn't it?

BTW, have you seen Spoony's, Angry Joe's and the Cinema Snob's review of the movie? Here's a hint: They didn't like it. >:D

Now that I think about it, the theme from Kickassia DID kick ass (pun intended).

Or, if you want a cross-over-ish reference:

Me: So... What should we do to M. Night?
The Sage: I suggest we castrate him, tie him to a cactus and play piniata with his entrails!
Everyone: D: ...
JewWario: I like it!
Me: Oh come on, we can do better than thatEveryone: DDDD ( ... )
