The weather has trolled Los Angeles

Mother Nature pulls fast one on forecasters
The Los Angeles Basin has gone from a cool summer to a record hot day in the fall and is headed for the wettest December on the books. And there are no easy explanations, experts say.

Translation: It's been raining for three days and we're all in shock )

As someone who lives in Los Angeles for school, and is still in Southern California for winter break - TELL ME ABOUT IT. This year's been absolutely crazy.

May I ask where in LA you live?

You're near the Science Center and the Natural History Museum yes? I'm about 15 minutes away from you =).

Sounds like business as usual for where I live (Kansas), so I guess I won't be as homesick for the crazy weather when I move to California next month. Yay(?)

If it's still raining when you get here in January, then I'll panic. Good luck with your move =). If you're moving to Los Angeles County, I'd be happy to help with any questions you may have.

Thanks! Moving to Laguna Beach actually. I hope it's not still raining because there probably won't be a Laguna Beach to move to XD

Oy, Laguna Beach. I really hope for your sake that it's not still raining because there are three ways into/out of Laguna (PCH north and south, and Laguna Canyon Road) and PCH is frequently blocked by accidents from douchebags driving too fast on windy little roads even without bad weather, and today Laguna Canyon Road was completely closed due to flooding. Nice city otherwise, though. A bit chilly and expensive for my tastes, but nice!

Yep. It's been hilarious driving back and forth on the 405 twice a day between OC and Westwood. And by hilarious I mean terrifying. Could the roads here be any more badly designed for water?

Just waiting for the flash floods in the foothills/for all the rich people's houses on the various hilltops to start sliding down.

I'm glad I don't drive. I never realized how poorly our streets were designed until I went to other states. Every year we have at least two days where it rains nonstop so it's not like rain is a new idea.

Stay safe. That's quite a long drive for this weather.

Thanks. Luckily I'm able to get most of my driving done not during peak hours, so I don't have it as bad as most. I hear it's supposed to clear by Thursday(????) so we'll see how that goes.

Ugh, its been absolute crap. I'm stuck here for the winter holidays (retail), but I am actually from Houston, so while I am MORE than used to days on end of rain with no end in sight, I am not used to the huge inconveniences caused by it. I don't recall having nearly this much trouble being able to see at night in the rain at home while driving, but jesus, it is a nightmare here. My brother is coming this week for Christmas and I'm super miffed, because it's like, what are we going to go do? It's just raining raining raining and I'd rather not die because the freeways aren't built to withstand tons of rain.

Wasn't California in the midst of a drought? Will this help or because it's too much too fast will simply run off?

In my completely uneducated view, it'll help a little but most of this is pretty hard and constant rain, I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of it would be no help at all.
