I must have very strict doctors. Greater than 6.0 is the definition of diabetes according to my own "junior"
8 (merely 2 points away from 6) means you averaged about 185 over the last 90 days. Since this is an average...it can be assumed that 1/2 those days your readings could be as high as 200. Same thing for 7 (154)..both are enough to cause long term diabetic complications
Also..ask about some of the newer drugs (Metformin has been around for many many years and it doesnt work over the long term). Januvia (and to a lesser degree, Actos) have been producing good results...
Also, also...Costco sells an A1c kit for about 20 dollars)..its is good for two tests. The local pharmacy "clinics" use this kit as well. It doesnt take away the need to see your doctor, of course, but its a good "between visits" tool to see how you are doing
Oh, the number changes depending on who you ask. Very frustrating. i've just never been good at dieting and i like to "think" that i try to eat right and not pig out, but obviously not. Hell, if you look at my "body of work" (for want of a better word) i'm either stuffing something in my face or drinking. (side note: do you think this is shows that i have an oral fixation?) i just don't know what i'm gonna do.
Thanks...and i know. i used to like to think that i wasn't that badbut you can see in my pics that i'm either stuffing something in my face or drinking, so i guess that's where that comes from. i guess i'll have to do something. *sigh*
I understand how you feel Woofer(luckily you didn't almost good blind like I did back in 2005 to scare your ass to cut out the sugar). And I also understand how hard it is to lose weight. But you may invest in snacks & dessert that have less or no sugar at all. You may also cut out the fried foods too(which is hard to do also). Another thing that can help you bring your sugar down is to take one Cinnamon pill twice day(before breakfast & dinner). Oh just in case of blood sugar crash, make sure you have a jar of peanut butter or a candy bar. Hang in Woofer, you have lost the war in this fight. HUGS!!!
Yep it's true. It's in the paperback book book I gave to Matt at The Hibearnation Run("The Kitchen Table Book" Page 77-80). This book is really amazing. You won't believe an apple & a banana a day will help you with your health problems. Another book you should get from Amazon
