Yesterday's highlight was going to the gallery opening of local artist, Christopher Schulte.
You may recall my writing about doing a web site for the charity that he set up,
the Will Flores Fund. This was the culmination of that work. Right now there are only a series of paintings on the website, but from the photos i took yesterday, there'll be a lot more to see. i'll let you know later in the week.
Christopher lives very simply and so pretty much everything he makes on the sale of his work, goes to this fund. i'm not sure exactly how it is set up, but i think they give him money to buy more materials, which would make sense. Every time i would go over to his house to discuss the web site, there would be a new piece that would just blow me away. His set of steel sculptures really caught my eye and this one was always one of my favorites. It looks like too lovebirds, doesn't it? It's made out of steel and i always thought to myself, "there's no way i'd be able to afford it" since i know what his work goes for. WHen i saw the price list yesterday, i was shocked. There's a red dot on it now.
The gallery opening was a success, but we didn't stay long. Poor Matt's tummy was bothering him, so i brought him home. He's feeling much better now.
