the repeated image of the lover destroyed (or: in which i mourn the loss of the triangle of doom)

Oh yes, you did read that correctly. No, I'm not sure about myself either. This gets less and less readable as it goes on and has really no point; beware. This is a thing that I jotted down angrily, and probably is very petty.

I haven't watched since the resurrection of Jesus, but I know well your pain. You're not alone, you're never alone~~~

//hugs us all awkwardly

We need, like, a TVD fandom support group. Or something. ~'tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all~

(Tennyson never had a TV, in all fairness.)

I haven't watched most of this season- an episode here or there- but I tuned in for the last two out of denial. Or nostalgia. Or something.

Suffice it to say, I'd better have left well enough alone, as the word-vomit above indicates.

THIS THO!

My biggest pain with s5 is that I fucking CAN'T make sense of it. And it's so, so infuriating. I'm supposed to be able to look at a text, and take it apart. I'm supposed to see structures unfold in my mind. This season doesn't unfold. It's a jumbled mess, and not a creative one. A creative jumbled mess should simply unfold into a much more complicated structure. This one doesn't. Where are my narratives?

YOU GET MY BRAIN.

No, but really. I'm all for the mess, but the mess has to be contained somehow, you know? There has to a starting point to access the mess. The mess has to exist ~for a reason~ or at very least, make a case for the reason being nonexistent. This just... well...

Where are my narratives?

*drops flower off Wickery Bridge* Here lies TVD, haver-of-the-narratives.

Unlike "new"!Elena, this new TVD is far from awesome.

Things in narratives simply need to have a purpose. Even if this purpose is to point out the idiocy of conceptualizing the world as purposeful.

There is only one angle that makes this season make sense, and this angle is market analysis. This season's main purpose was to sell the dvds, and I think it'll do exactly that.

If I weren't already dead inside, this would have killed me.
