Ha - if, by that, you mean that it goes one better than everybody else, I have to agree with you!
Sadly, because of the flight restrictions on liquid, my choice of sake was confined to the Narita airport shop (not great) whereas, I would have liked to have brought back a particular dry Joetsu sake called - Kagetora! I tried the Kagetora variety in a tofu restaurant and it just suited my taste (how fitting, eh?). Happily I didn't need to drink it in the face of falling arrows!
I haven't tried this airport sake (described vaguely as "medium") yet as I thought I'd throw a Japan party later in the summer and crack it open then. Need to have something to look forward to now that my Gackt/Asia excitement is spoken of in the past tense.
Oh, I'm definitely not a professional at food! Just an interested amateur. I have to confess to being a bit of a nutrition nazi too.
I hope you do get the chance to try some decent Eastern Mediterranean pastries one day - you only need a little piece but they are nice. They use some interesting flavours such as orange flower water and rose water. They also use sesame and date for taste and sweetness which I like.
Dunno if my friend will enjoy Turkey - she doesn't return till next week so we'll see!
Ah, cuckoo - I mean "you" as in personal pronoun 2nd person singular! But your You fantasy is fun - although I think the furoshiki might have a few violins in between the many Enerus, no? And maybe one camera!
Hee - if you're like me and greedy enough to want all that food, filling 3 tiers is surprisingly easy!
And the party left-overs deserved a nice setting. The usual peanut butter and rice cakes don't merit the same treatment. Clearly I need more parties ;=)
That looks definitly yummy and nicely arranged; I will most likely end up making more bentos soon too, since I have to cook my own dinners starting next week, which means there will be lunch boxes as well xD
That is one nice 3 tier box, by the way. Remind me to go to tokyu hands xD
Ah, my lunch is not usually this attractive - the party leftovers were the key!
Oh, cooking dinners is good (means you can eat what you like and be healthy) but I hope you don't have to eat alone all the time. At least share one or two photos with us, eh?
Yes, the bento box is indeed lovely; it is my one non-Gackt souvenir! Yeah, the shibuya branch of Tokyu Hands has many many shelves of bento goodies - you can spend at least one hour in there looking, I think. I am still editing the photos from my trip but when I'm done I'll post some travelogue stuff about my first visit to Japan including a whacky pic (if it turns out OK) of bento boxes in a store window in Fukuoka spelling the word "LUNCH". I saw some strange sights!
Your bento box looks really pretty! And the furoshiki complements it well.
Ah, the food looks good and is really healthy too. It puts me to shame :P. The stuffed vineleaves in particular looks really good and reminds me of the chinese 'zong zi'.
Ah, the vineleaves may look a little like the zong zi (I like all those sticky rice things - such as loh mai gai) but you can eat the wrapping of these ones. Same with the similar European versions which use cabbage leaf to contain the rice.
Ha - you're making me sound very greedy, like I study food! Actually - this is a secret - I'm better at arranging the food prettily for the camera than I am at making the food pretty.
I'm not a big fan of loh mai gai, maybe because I've tried one too many ones where the rice was too soft and almost mushy, but I love zong zi. I've never heard of the cabbage version though.
Ah, but making the food pretty can be pretty troublesome, no? If you're talking about things like making cute faces out of seaweed, egg molds, etc.
Sigh, I should stop talking about food. It's making me recall the times before I came to study in London and my mum would make my favourite dishes around exam time.

Quite a lot of food you can get in there. I also like your tablecloth! How was the sake by the way?

Yes - that was the sort of pretty that I meant. Some people are very clever with their minds and fingers.
Golly - my mum never did anything like that. Just told me to keep me head down and get on with it! Good advice, eh? hint hint!
