Okay. Yesterday was pretty bad. It sucks to work in retail. Since the holidays are over the store wants to "recooperate" and save money so, they cut many of the seasonal workers and they're reducing everyone else's hours. I hear ya so much on this post! My bakery (at Kroger grocery store) has the same problem. We're so shortstaffed it's frustrating. I'm the closer, so it's irritating because they'll give me a list of stuff to do and I'm thinking, "um...don't you realize that you gave me all of this stuff to do and I have to work alone and I have to wait on customers (we're also a deli) and I have to close?" This job would be tolerable if I didn't have to work alone so much. How many people total work in your bakery?

Before I became the baker they had me closing by myself, too and I had to go back and forth from the bakery to the deli, so I feel ya. What the hell do these people expect from us?! Do they not comprehend the fact that we're merely human?! We deserve gold medals or something (lol).

We have 5 people in our bakery/deli, but our grocery store is fairly small as far as grocery stores go. Nevertheless, I think we need 2 - 3 more people. Only one or two people right now know how to fully decorate cakes, I think. And forget a gold medal- how about a raise, lol (I make $7.20)

i agree with everything you wrote.

is there anyone higher up the chain of command you can talk to about what's going on before you quit? is there a human resources?

Yeah, we have a human resources thingy...
HR won't really help me with this since it was the corporation's plan to schedule less hours and use less workers. Quite a few of us are really mad and we're complainin' to high heaven about it! My team leader got our executive to work and help us out! lol And he should!
