Benn and I have been approved for a mortgage! They approved us for $250,000 bucks but really, we don't want anything over $220,000. We need to scrape together a 5% down payment, and that'll be tough enough at $220,000. As it is, we're going to have to sell all of our stocks/RRSPs (which are worth a lot less now than a year ago). I understand about the dancing thing. I keep imagining it, and it seems like a horrific scene to me. It reminds me of that case in the states of a manager strip searching his female employee at some fast food place because some anonymous voice on the phone told him to. Obviously, it's not on that scale of horrificness, but it's still an abuse of authority. But don't get sad, get mad! Girl, you need to stand up for yourself. You are a worthy being. And by the way, I read the comments from your co-worker on FB. Um, I didn't see those as terribly helpful - and there is NO UNIVERSE in which humiliating and embarrassing your subordinates constitutes an acceptable way to manage staff. Just hold on to that thought.
As for house thing, just let me say this - I can't believe how much houses cost where you are. I won't rub it in, though. Really. But GAAAAAK. As for your options though, it seems to me anyway that the pet thing should be your primary consideration. A Carol without pets is like a summer without sunshine - and you'd be miserable.
