Benn and I have been approved for a mortgage! They approved us for $250,000 bucks but really, we don't want anything over $220,000. We need to scrape together a 5% down payment, and that'll be tough enough at $220,000. As it is, we're going to have to sell all of our stocks/RRSPs (which are worth a lot less now than a year ago). Once we get through ( Read more... )

Congratulations! Are you barfing from the stress yet? Or does that come only AFTER you've found a place and your offer's been accepted? Or is that just me? *embarrassed laughter*

I understand about the dancing thing. I keep imagining it, and it seems like a horrific scene to me. It reminds me of that case in the states of a manager strip searching his female employee at some fast food place because some anonymous voice on the phone told him to. Obviously, it's not on that scale of horrificness, but it's still an abuse of authority. But don't get sad, get mad! Girl, you need to stand up for yourself. You are a worthy being. Worthy to be treated with dignity and respect. If no one else will demand it for you, you have to demand it for yourself, or you will always be the one being picked on, no matter where you go. There are always going to be bullies, and they will always pick on you because they recognise your inability to just stand up to them, put your foot down, and calmly and simply say, "I will not be treated in this

Yes, Corinne, sing it, sister!

Everything Corinne said. Carol, my dear girl, I know you have it in you to be strong and stand up for yourself, because otherwise you wouldn't be the fabulous dog trainer that you are. No dog would respect a pushover. So I know you aren't one.

And by the way, I read the comments from your co-worker on FB. Um, I didn't see those as terribly helpful - and there is NO UNIVERSE in which humiliating and embarrassing your subordinates constitutes an acceptable way to manage staff. Just hold on to that thought.

As for house thing, just let me say this - I can't believe how much houses cost where you are. I won't rub it in, though. Really. But GAAAAAK. As for your options though, it seems to me anyway that the pet thing should be your primary consideration. A Carol without pets is like a summer without sunshine - and you'd be miserable.

Hey- Just as a side note, I agree with Hannah re: your co-worker's comments on facebook. Not exactly supportive or even constructive.

I can't believe you are talking about mortgages. I'm not ready to be THAT grown up yet.

:( I can't believe how few people are there! If I were remotely on that side of the world, I would SO be there.
