Who : Daphne, George and Ginny. When : August 22nd - Morning Where : Living Room Rating : G Summary : Daphne takes on the living room... Completion : Complete
George had just woken up with one thought on his mind. Tea. A nice steaming cup would be just the wake-up call he needed. He shuffled out of his room, stopping a few steps into the sitting room to let out an unabashed yawn. At that moment, a stray 'scourgify' took him by surprise. There was a reason people took proper baths instead of using charms like that. The spell didn't hurt really, but it was like being poked and stretched and wiped in every place at once. Even his mother hadn't been so thorough bathing him when he was younger. It really was horrible. On the bright side, though, he did feel much more awake and his feet no longer smelled.
After the initial shock of the spell had worn off, he noticed Daphne and the newer, cleaner furniture. Obviously she was on some type of cleaning tirade, but seemed to be doing a good job of things. "Er. Hello," he greeted softly. "Nice sofa."
Daphne whirled around, a little shocked of hearing someone else's voice. This whole cleaning thing took up all of her attention. Oh, the other Weasley. "Oh, hi." she said breathlessly. "Thank you. The moldy old thing the presented us with at first irritated me, so I decided to do something about it."
Personally, George wasn't sure about the color - red would have looked much nicer, but her transfiguration skills weren't lacking.
He smiled. "It'll be nice to have something decent to sit on. I suppose the others are off doing chores as well. Better go and find something to do myself."
He gave a little wave to Ginny as she came in before heading on to the kitchen for that cup of tea.
Having finished giving Neville is lesson in magical cleaning, Ginny returned to the main room and saw Daphne and George
"Nice work with the sofa" she commented to Daphne "And thanks for getting started on the living room"
She pointed her wand, and said "Cyclonus Vacumare". Immediately, a very small, concentrated whirldwind of air appeared. Ginny guided it around the ceiling and upper corners of the room, as it swept up the dust and cobwebs.
"It's funny, you know" she said "Of all the things I imagined myself doing in here, working with a Slytherin to clean the house was nowhere on the list. I suppose it goes to show your lot aren't *all* totally self-absorbed, which is good to know"
Daphne turned as she heard Ginny enter the room. She couldn't help but smile at the kind words. Apparently Gryffindors weren't that bad. Huh. Who'd have thought. "Thank you, Ginny." she said, being careful to use her given name. "I must admit, had anyone told me I'd be cleaning anything, and with Gryffindors none the less, I would've probably laughed in their faces. But... honestly, it's not so bad." She fiddled with her hair, feeling out of place.
"Better than Not-bad, I'd say" replied Ginny "It's certainly a refreshing change to meet a Slytherin who's interested in co-operating. It's certainly preferable to being chased around the Ministry by a group of Slytherin alumni using Unforgivable Curses..."
She paused, and looked around. Between the two of them, they'd cleaned the entire room in double-quick time.
"Wow, we've really done well. I think this calls for a break. Drink of something?"
"I'm dying for a glass of ice cold lemonade, I must admit." Daphne said. She glanced around the room. Finally clean and with decent furniture. A good job indeed. "To the kitchen, I take it?" she said.
