[ There's the sounds of hands clapping and then a soft giggle. ]

It's almost Christmas, isn't it? This is my first Christmas away from home - it's very exciting.

[ She pauses, and then hums in thought. This is all a little too much for her. ]

How do you normally celebrate Christmas? I'd really like to know.

Vatheon celebrated this Christmas almost five months ago. Was that not customary?

So long ago? No, I... I always thought Christmas was at this time of year. Was I wrong?

You implied that you have celebrated it before. Why should you think yourself wrong? I had never encountered the holiday before then, so perhaps I am mistaken.

Yet there was thick snow, brightly decorated trees, and hanging lights in the streets. Presents were left everywhere, addressed to many of us. There were flying plants that compelled those who came upon them to kiss one another.

Many people claimed that it was Christmas at the time.

Oh, well... At home I only celebrated with Maka, and sometimes Father if he was home. We might not have celebrated it at the right time.

[ She gasps quietly and then there's the sound of a clap. ]

Oh, that sounds simply wonderful! I've never had anything like that at home.

This will only be the second time I have celebrated the festival... and the first time was here in Vatheon to begin with, during a curse.

[A thoughtful pause.]

I know it is customary to give gifts and hang decorations. Certain food is traditional as well? I am not sure of much beyond that, in all honesty, beyond a few more minor customs.

Christmas is a time for friends and family! That's what Maka always told me. That we should spend it with the people we love.

[ She sighs. ]

It will be a wonderful new experience for us both.

A very pleasant festival it is indeed, then. There is little one can do that brings more happiness.

[A small, curious sound.]

Indeed, it will be. I ought to find out about the food soon... it may require a little practise before I can cook it correctly.

I think so! I hope we can all spend it with people we care about.

-- Oh! You can cook?

Christmas, the birth of the Christian Messiah. Some people still cling to the original religious aspect and pray to the Jewish Prophet.

Now, it is little more than a holiday for major companies to make money.

As for I, I do neither.

People use Christmas to make money?

Mmmmm yes~

Capitalists will do anything to make money. War, religious holidays, tragedies, death.

War should never be used to make money! That's horrible!

Back at home, we'd gather up the members in the family and go to friends' houses to visit as well.

We'd eat together and play a lot of games together... Tell stories by the fireplace, as well as exchange gifts.

[his voice sounded a bit melachonic. he's a bit lonely lately, since this is the first Christmas he'll have away from home and without people from home...]

That sounds wonderful, Red.

[ She pauses for a long moment. She's never had a Christmas that was so... Warm. ]

I'm sure Christmas here will be nice too!

I'm sure it will be... With everyone. Maybe our families from home aren't here, but we have our own little family here, too.

Yes, I think so! We won't be alone; we have love here.
