purple flowering vines

Lazy weekend. Sneezy one, too. Friday's pollen count was around 2,500 -- over twenty times the "extremely high" warning gauge. Lovely. It's also too hot around here for March, with a high today of 87. Ridiculous! That said, I still love Atlanta SO much. It's funny -- when I was younger, I assumed I'd be the type to move from city to city ( Read more... )

I'm a fellow Atlantan, sort of. I technically live in the vast area dubbed metro-Atlanta, but I actually live in Sugar Hill, near the very bottom of Lake Lanier. And it was HOT here today, too. I actually picnicked up in Amicalola State Park this afternoon, and people were walking the trail in swimsuits and shorts, splashing in the water and even sunbathing. Definitely not normal.

one with a greenish tint, and another with a pinkish tint.

The white flowering tree with the greenish tint is probably a Bradford Pear, but actually that second picture doesn't look like a dogwood to me. Dogwoods have this really tiered look to them. It looks like a cherry tree to e. But there are white and pink dogwoods.

My favorites, though, are the Chinese Magnolias, with their gorgeous pinkish tulip-ish flowers.

Those are my favorites as well. I love this time of year in Georgia. I just hope this heat doesn't damage the tulips!

Yay pictures! You're making me homesick for all the beautiful flowering trees this kind of year...

I left on Friday so missed most of the horrible pollen, thankfully.

I'm pretty sure that second picture is of a pear tree, we have one in our yard that looks just like that.

If you don't want that warm weather I'll happily have it up in Connecticut ;)

We were talking about cursive writing in my Anne Frank class and how nobody uses it anymore, and I was sort of wondering wtf everyone was talking about, as I write in cursive all the time. Although, I was mostly confused because our professor kept saying things like "students never write by hand anymore" and "people will forget how to write because they're typing instead".....even though everyone in the class (and in most of my classes, for that matter) was taking notes by hand.

Ohh, lovely pictures.
I think wisteria is gorgeous.
The tulip magnolias are in bloom here in Vancouver, too. I love them, and the flowering cherry and plum trees that line the streets here. It's a sure sign that spring is here!
