Time to vent, thanks to the idiots at my optometrist's office. ( Screwing me out of a new prescription. )

I love Jim Gaffigan. Listen to his "Hot Pockets" routine. And my 2 year old is a huge Berkner fan; We Are the Dinosaurs rumbles through our house as she marches, marches around and around.

Whaddaya think of that? *BOOM*

Yeah, the NYT piece had a clip of the Hot Pockets routine -- hilarious! Loved the "frozen in the middle" bit.

I'll have to find some kiddie CDs for my sister and the new nephew. His dad has already bought and loaded Baby's First iPod... before he was even born. Ah, geeks. ;)

No, don't! They'll have to listen to those things till they can sing them in their sleep. :0)

But if you must... the soundtrack to Curious George (by Jack Johnson) is innocuous enough. Other parent-friendly artists: Dan Zanes, They Might be Giants and James Taylor.

Interestingly, Indikid likes Death Cab for Cutie and Red Hot Chili Peppers, along with her boyfriend, Bono. (I think she likes the first two bands because at various times their CDs were queued up right after her album, so she got used to hearing at least the first few songs before she realized the change and started clamoring for Elmo again!)

Speaking of music for the preschool set, you wouldn't happen to have a copy of Raffi's "Oh Me,
Oh My" floating around, wouldja?

I don't actually know anything about kids' music -- I just linked to that because I found it funny. :)

I love Jim Gaffigan! His hot pockets schtick is classic. I really like his off-beat and random humor, and I agree that it's refreshing to see someone be so funny without having to profane or crass. I recommend renting his "In the Pale" DVD.

Re: the Emmy changes. "Why I Love Acting, by Katee Sackhoff." :) Yeah yeah, I know it's not that kind of essay, but it makes me laugh.

Oops, I mean Beyond the Pale! That's right, I loved it so much I forgot the name. :)

Just added that DVD to my queue. :)

God, I can't even imagine what that essay would be like. "I get to kick ass and kiss hot guys. Vote for me!"

Ah, so Terry Dresbach wrote Matt Roush's column this week.

-- Slate attempts to understand the appeal of American Apparel. The writers' memories of her own early '80s wardrobe was very familiar to me. AmAp is supposedly the new wave in mass-market fashion, but I find all their stuff just plain *ugly*.

Ditto. U-G-L-Y.

PS, how's the nephew doing?

Yup. Like the article says, that style seems to appeal only to people who aren't old enough to deal with it the first time around.

The nephew is cute -- at least, in his photos! Can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks. :)
