[He's just wandering around the village and exploring as he's been doing so often lately to allieviate his boredom when he spots Raine. He recognizes her, of course; he's met her in his time, but then he recalls what Richter told him about Lloyd and the others being from a different time period and not knowing anything about what was going on. It's best not to let on that he knows her...]
Hmm. I suppose it depends on the severity of the experiment. They haven't been too predictable for when they choose to throw things at us, after all. Sometimes it can be within weeks, or there can be some more time in between them.
It wouldn't surprise me if we had some time now to regroup since that last experiment is finally over, though all the same, they could find something else to throw at us after people get themselves situated again.
A variety of things, none of it pleasant. [She's not looking directly at him, and after a moment just shakes her head, still wincing]
In the end, it's torture, really. Either they are trying to exploit something from a subject for their own use, or they want to see just how much one can withstand in certain circumstances.
Usually it is random, though there are some incidents when it's very obvious that someone was taken for a reason.
T-torture? [His eyes are absolutely enormous now. He'd suspected that whatever they did wasn't good, but he hadn't realized that it was quite at that level.] T-that's horrible! Can't... can't people do anything to stop it?
They try, but the result is always the same. We simply haven't found the right way to deal with it, and it's only going to get worse until things are better organized.
It's still better than nothing getting done at all. If you're involved, you should use the opportunity to learn as much as you can from them. We will be making another attempt to examine it very soon, and hopefully this time we can avoid ... certain circumstances, after being better prepared.
[A nod of his head, and he straightens up.] Yes! I joined, so I'm going to help as much as I can, though... I don't know what I can do to help. But I'm still going to try!
... are you all right?

Until we can get more research is done on the barrier, I don't see things changing very much.
