Hairdye project sad failure. Hair still brown, with maybe vaguely purple tinge if you're looking for it

&hearts Sometimes you have to experiment with hair dye. If your hair is darker, you'll definitely want to bleach before putting in a color like purple. A lot of bleach kits will tell you to wait 24 hours between bleaching and coloring. Also, with the crazy colors, you might need to re-dye once more to get it to set.

Ah, if you want a dye that shows up well without bleach, go hunting for a bottle of Special Effects Deep Purple. In my rather dark hair, it showed up as a dark, dark purple and then gradually lightened into other fantastic shades. Be prepared for everything that touches your hair to also turn purple, though. Washing my hair was a nightmare.
