Aw, I loved the romance of this--the near misses as they slowly gravitated towards each other until they were both free to be together. The characterizations were perfect, and the birds were a great idea!

The birds came from the "wildlife" part of the prompt, obviously. I thought about making it some other kind of animal first, but birds with scales instead of feather and in varying bright colors just seemed a very Doctor Who-like animal to me. ;)

Oh, that was really nice! I love the sense of inevitability, the way they're just waiting for the timing to be right, even if they don't realize it. They've got issues, but those two just fit together... Nice sense of intimacy in the last part, too. :)
