I just submitted a question to writers block on LJ but I doubt it will be chosen but it would be nice if it was, as I’d be very interested to read peoples answers. My question was ‘Is it ever right to celebrate someone’s death, no matter what they may have done in life?’ the question was inspired by the death of Colonel Gaddafi in October this year

I so agree with you. I don't support the death penalty, not only because it's inhumane, but because of what it does to those who carry it out. Whether it's done by an angry mob or a supposedly dispassionate legal system, willfully killing someone is an ugly, ugly thing and just lowers those who do it to the level of the person killed.

I'm almost afraid to ask: who's Myra Hindley and what did she do?

Myra Hindley was a child killer, she buried many a innocent out on the moors and refused to disclose where many a child lay for years after her arrested, causing further distress to victims families. Over here she is seen as a symbol of pure evil.

Wow. I never understand what makes people do that kind of thing and hope I never do.

Sadly, there are always going to be some damaged people among us. How we deal with them shows the level of our own "damage" as a society. *shakes head*
