Must-miss movie of the week

Dec 28, 2008 09:01

Marley & Me. Very possibly the worst movie of 2008. Characters bland, boring, and unbelievable, plot nonexistent, and the dog doesn't get nearly enough screen time. I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but its awfulness exceeded my wildest expectations.

Has anyone seen a decent movie lately? I'd like to end the year on a positive note.

dogs, movies

I'd already written off Marley. My sister just put down two elderly dogs so I figured the end of Marley would do me in. Glad to hear I'm not missing much.

This morning I was driving and saw someone walking a yellow lab and had the sudden (possibly realistic) fear that Marley will do for yellow labs what 101 Dalmatians did for Dalmatians.

I can't recommend any movies, but I have a hunch that The Day The Earth Stood Still will pale in comparison to the original.

It was already on my must-miss list, along with the book from which it is derived, since I know that the premise is "worst dog in history is loved by owners anyhow, then dies."

I really enjoyed Twilight (not that it's a great movie, but still). And I'm hearing great things about Benjamin Button.

Well that sucks -- I would imagine the chief draw of the movie is Adorable Dog Being Adorable. As a general rule, I avoid animal movies because it ruins my day when they die at the end.

The only movie I've seen in recent memory is Twilight, and I'm itching to go to the movies. Next week I'm hoping to see Benjamin Button and Slumdog Millionaire.
