Hmmm, I just realized why Scotty gets so easily frustrated with Kevin in this story. It's not so much about Kevin putting his work or his siblings first before Scotty and Amy (well he does, but that's another character flaw), but I think its more of that when Kevin makes decisions (e.g. making dinner plans with Robert&co or going off to Robert's ranch on Scotty's day off), he keeps failing to discuss it with (or at least informing) Scotty. Even if things are as small or insignificant as those are, they still have some bearing and importance in both of their lives. And it's not even about what Kevin's gonna be doing. I understand the dinner thing, but a simple talk like, "Hey sweetie, I have this dinner with Robert, Kitty and some sponsors. It's a couples thing and I don't know if you'll be interested, mingling with conservatives and all..." I don't think Scotty's interested at all with doing that, but the fact that Kevin made the decision to go alone and not discussing it with Scotty first, not even mentioning it ot Scotty, that
( ... )
Yes, that's definitely something I'm trying to focus on in this story! I think even on the show, it's really the underlying issue to a lot of their problems - Kevin quitting and taking jobs on a whim, buying houses, trying to force the baby issue, using "his" money in his retirement account, etc. All of it seems to me like he's not yet thinking of marriage in terms of a partnership. The other person may not always need to "vote" on something, but they should at least be informed, the issues should get discussed and their schedules and obligations should be respected as well. Kevin seems to behave very much like he and Scotty are roommates whose choices and actions don't necessarily affect each other, rather than a "team," in my opinion. That's how I see it most of the time, anyway. Glad that seems to come across in the story! Thanks for your thoughts!
This chapter has been easier to read; it's so good to see them like this, happy Good. I was worried that I might have glossed over some stuff too much and the relative happiness wasn't really "earned," but I don't think you all would complain too much about that!

Now I'm curious to know what the other album of photos was.
And, minzky, I was thinking the same thing.
