The only thing left to tell us about the K-T meteor is an Iridium-content anomaly in a particular layer of earth -- it did not survive. The dinosaurs, according to all theories, survived the meteor impact itself, but were extincted later as a result of it. The meteor itself presents no evidence of having survived the impact. Therefore, I propose, the Lollipop Guild would win this fight.
The symbolism in this match is rife and just begging for detailed analysis. I've been up waaaaay too long to provide any, but maybe I can elicit a chuckle.
So the Guild. You know what guilds are, right? Basically the economic policy of Europe during the middle ages, up to the Enlightenment. They began attracting criticism during the 1700s and 1800s, for reasons like "opposed free trade" and "inhibited technological progress."
'Dinosaur' is a term for a person or group that adheres to outdated ideas, motives, or culture. I trust in your intelligence enough to not need to say more about this.
You know what else dinosaurs were? Freaking awesome. And I am now going to go totally off topic because I have an awesome theory involving their extinction and some time to kill
( ... )
Guys, guys. This isn't just any meteor that we're talking about here. This is the meteor that killed the dinosaurs.
Sixty-five million years ago.
That meteor is not going to smash into Oz. It's not going to smash into anything. It's lying immobile across the sea floor, and possibly also on the Moon. The Lollipop Guild can just meander over, and mine it at their leisure.
In fact, they've been doing that for decades. Little known fact - that's where rock candy comes from. And rock candy (or "hard sugar", as they call it on the street) is one of the Guild's big money-makers.
