Well, I don't know about any of you, but I thought last week's Heaven Sent was one of the strangest, and at the same time, most fascinating things I have seen in Doctor Who in quite some time indeed. A masterclass from Capaldi...and what a payoff... How on Earth are they going to top that? Well, let's find out this week in the hotly anticipated ( Read more... )

Yeah, another mindwipe, but as I say in response to jjpor, it was played better than the way the Tenth Doctor did it to Donna (grabbing her while she's protesting? too much like rape, and f*** you, too, RTD), which is a strong reason I find #10 repulsive. The Doctor here was possibly on the way to making the same mistake, except that Clara demanded that she have agency, and they should risk it equally. And it randomly got the Doctor, and he was fine with it, because he'd gone too far, and it was time to stop. Worked well for me.

As always, my two cents can be found here: http://alumfelga.livejournal.com/8538.html,

Where I point out 1) how glad I was to see Clara getting to stand out for her memories and being equal to the Doctor - "together"; 2) how I thought the Doctor and Ashildr will discuss all possible hybrids; 3) how amazing it was to hear "The Doctor's Theme" again.

I can't remember when I enjoyed a Steven Moffat's episode so much.

I don't really understand why it's been canon for decades that when the Doctor regenerates he's off kilter for awhile, yet when the General regenerated, ka-bam, right back to work and fully in control.

Yes, but it's also canon that when Romana regenerated, she had no problems at all. When River regenerated, she was in control, too. Maybe it's just the Doctor who's bad at regeneration?

Could be. Or maybe he just likes being dramatic. :)
