I am from the United States.

And usually, I am very, very picky about what sorts of pairings I like. But when I was introduced to Hetalia...that really is one series where you can put anyone with anyone and it can be hilarious. So I meandered through US/UK and all the more common ones and then I started running across France/UK and I just really loved it. It's hilarious. England's constant: >[ with France's always: >D just really appealed to me. They have such a love-hate relationship.

As far as who tops...I don't have a preference when it comes to them. I like it when England is all surly and tops and stuff but I also enjoy it when France can get England to lower his guard and France tops.

And France always appears to me as the sort of guy who 'lets' himself bottom depending on his partner. So he's a guy who can go either way because what he picks depends on who he's with.

I'm from France too and I started liking this pairing even before knowing about Hetalia <3
I find it funny that people always say that France/UK are rivals, I wonder if it's actually true or not xD
Anyway I've always liked the opposites-attract-kinda pairing so yeah when I first discovered Hetalia I immediately thought of this couple and liked it even more when I saw the interactions between the two x3

I'm from France.
I like this pairing because I like the dynamics between the countries. And the characters.
For the countries, it's more than a simple hate or a childish rivalry. It's between a conflit of interest, admiration, envy and respect (and even if there isn't the primary anti-UK bashing anymore, doesn't mean we're the BFF now)
For the characters, I love the way they just can't admit they're able to stand each other. Francis always does too much, and Arthur denies.
Who tops? Geographically, it's Arthur XD

I'm Filipino but was born & raised in the U.S.

I started to like this coupling after reading a few comics that centered around them, like Medieval England's Hair, Shared-Fate Country and Dream United Kingdom. After a while I actually started doing research on the relationship the two countries had in real life. After reading up on it and learning more about them in my AP Euro class, it was impossible to NOT like this coupling.

As for the characters, I adore their love-hate relationship and how they interact with each other in the canon. They're fighting one minute but they can band together if a third party comes in (like Finland during the Battle for America strips; also, I thought it was kinda cute how they were fishing n a river together in those strips) or if England's drunk out of his mind (see The Christmas Strips EpilogueThe fanon also helped me get into this coupling.
