I finally made Eeyore for my DH (another peep for his birthday)! I made him to test the Loopy Legs technique, and was really pleased that it worked so well with such a different style of peep than Petunia the Phlying Piglet. :o)
His eyes were quite a challenge! I couldn't use any of my usual methods because they're FLAT!! And making felt eyes wasn't really an option since I can't manage to cut out a circle! I actually crocheted them with a very teensy steel hook and embroidery floss and pearl cotton.
OMG, you're just pure awesome. Wow. Made me breathless for a couple minutes! He turned out a lot better than some of those pro Japanese things! Congrats, really. :3 (And don't worry: I can't cut a circle for my life either! XD )
Oooo! Made you BREATHLESS, legendancer?! Wowie! Thanks!! Now that's a compliment! heh heh I'm so pleased you folks like him, 'cause I looove him so much! I just want to give him a little squeeze every time I see him! Thank you for the lovely comments!
When I opened this post, I had another window open in front of it, so I couldn't see your icon. But I KNEW this was yours! Who else makes such fabulous knit amis?! I think he has moved into my "favorite knittycat creation" slot. Great details; looks just like the real Eeyore; super cute - what more could you ask for?
I love, love, love him!!! Is he one of the ones you made/are able to make a pattern for, or are we all out of luck?
Awww, what a lovely sweet, sweet comment!!! *blush* *blush* I'm really bowled over! :o) And I'm so loving this little guy that it makes it especially wonderful that you all like him so much!
Ummm... pattern.. I didn't make notes, but actually, except for his ears (which I experimented with closing them as I knitted the flap to see if I could avoid the side stitching... and with two colors... yeah, I don't recommend doing it that way! heh heh) he was actually pretty straightforward. It's using the loopy legs technique (and you could crochet him that way too), but with some different shaping, of course for his face and head, but he wasn't that complicated. Especially if you do straightforward loopy flaps for his ears and stitch the sides up along with the leg sides. heh heh The hardest part for me was his EYES!
I will add him to my growing list of "someday" patterns. It's a possibility. :o) Right now I'm still trying to finish my summer birthday gift peep knitting!! I'm sooo behind!
