If you are doing a unity sand ceremony how did you seal your jars closed so the sand wouldn't empty out? And what song did you use when you were filling them?

The jars we bought had a seal in the neck...we used that heart shaped unity kit...

Just had a look! It is a cork.

the set we are looking at doesn't have a seal or even a cork.

We didn't seal our jars closed. All three jars (one for each of us, and then the middle one) didn't have corks or tops or anything. We transported the jar back home carefully and put it on our mantel.

With my luck, there would have been sand EVERYWHERE by the end of the trip. ;) You've got some chutzpah (and excellent luck)!

Oh, what I left out is that about two months after we got married, my brother and SIL were over and my brother and I were goofing around in the living room. He threw a pillow at me, it missed, and knocked our sand ceremony jar onto the hearth, breaking it and scattering sand everywhere (the other casualty was our cake topper). He felt so horrible. I couldn't help but laugh.

Ohhh, that gives me an idea! An everyday jar that seals could be used for our unity jar!!!

that's great advice. Thank you!!! You made my searching so much easier. I already found the sand, now all I need to do is go to target and find a jar! lol

You could seal it with wax! Probably not the best thing to do DURING the ceremony, but later you can just pour a sturdy layer of melted wax over the sand and it should be pretty solid.

FH and I are deciding whether or not we want to do unity sand but if we do, we are going to use this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10082806
with a ribbon tied around it. :-) Cheap and easy!
