Brunch Reception

Looking to save money, and an extreme love for breakfast food, has caused me to look into hosting a brunch reception.

Anyone done this? What did you do for entertainment? Still do a DJ/band?

I attended a brunch reception and it was sooooo very nice. They had an omelet station, waffle station and cappuccino station set up. They had a DJ and did a few dances. The DJ played mostly jazz so it really added to the atmosphere.

I wanted a brunch reception for the breakfast food SO bad.

But it's not necessarily ANY less expensive and could EASILY become MORE expensive, depending on how you choose to proceed. For instance, you could have a juice bar, an omelet station, a french toast/waffle/pancake buffet, a huge carved fruit display. LOTS of ways to do it. :)

I'd forego a DJ for a morning reception, and would assume the reception itself wouldn't be the standard 4 hours. I'd have an MC and an ipod reception, lower volume music, mostly 'standards' [Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr], but that's my 2 cents.

I had a brunch reception... it was about 2/3 of the cost of an evening reception. We had an omlet station and a bunch of other food and for drinks we had beer, wine and champagne (no hard liquor). We had a band that did all instrumental music and there wasn't much dancing which was fine with me. Then that evening my parents hosted a dinner at their house for the out of twon guests, and I rented out the top floor of a bar for the "afterparty" for all our friends. It was a great day. Highly recommend the brunch reception.

brunch followed by "after party" sounds like perfection!

We had a brunch reception on a Sunday at noon, directly following our ceremony. And it was awesome!

We love breakfast food, had no desire to do the typical Saturday night plated dinner followed by a DJ/dancing, and loved the idea of saving about 50% by going this route.

We had hired a string trio to play during our ceremony and then also for the reception. They were absolutely wonderful.
