Issues with Cheesecake Question

This bakery is owned by FMIL's student's parents. The are local and specialize in cheescake. We. love. cheescake. definitely. So aside from the whole "we know a guy" thing, they seemed like a good fit with our personal tastes.

Setting up an appointment with them was not easy. Their website had a contact form. We filled it out and waited. No one ( Read more... )

If it were me, I'd go somewhere else.

I'd move on and go elsewhere. It's a tricky thing to decide since a lot of vendors flake, but the fact that they repeatedly flake is a major red flag to me. Find another place that does great cheesecake and can get back to you.

They've proved they're unreliable, count it as a blessing that you didn't have to wait for them to cancel the week before you're wedding.

You could still (attempt to) make an appointment for a tasting this weekend, but I definitely wouldn't put all my eggs in that basket. Make some appointments at other places, too. (I am of the opinion that you can never taste too much cake!) Then go with whoever you get the best vibe from. And maybe see if you can find some independent reviews of the bakery online (from Yelp or Citysearch). It could be that their cakes are amazing but they just don't have the most awesome communication skills.

This is my thought, also. There's no harm in setting up the appointment and going for it... just don't rely on it just yet as the actual solution.

...agreed: one last chance might let you know if you should write them off, or if they just had crappy mercury-retrograde bad luck or something...but if they are sort of jerky this time, I'd be done with them...

I've had a Lot of flaky vender issues. The people and businesses that get my money are the ones that return my phone calls or emails, and give me the information I require to find out if they're the ones for me. If I have to fight to get them to respond, I can only imagine that they won't be reliable when I need them (like the day of the wedding).

Let them go, this isn't a stress you need. :)
