I had a friend stop talking to me for a while because I pretty much told her that last paragraph about the ICC and she was so upset because she omg is a New Yorker and Ground Zero is just so precious, how could they build a muslim building there when the attackers were muslim?!?!1

Because the attackers were derranged assholes that do not represent Islam and making the Muslims that live in this country pay for their crusade is prejudice, ridiculous and just plain wrong? :D
Don't even get me started on "Hi, um, Muslims died that day, too, and they weren't just the attackers". There's a reason the buildings had the word "WORLD" in them.

You know, I'm almost glad to hear of an actual New Yorker who doesn't support it. For a minute there I thought it was all out-of-state right-wing asshats.

It's still prejudiced and ridiculous, but it's her city. It's not like Sarah Failin flying all the way down from Alaska to protest the mosque when she treats New Yorkers like godless librul scum the rest of the time.

To be fair, she's just an in-state right wing asshat xD. She's cool and all, but her statements when this came up were nothing short of "I have surpressed racist issues with Muslims that 9/11 made worse, how are you?

lol I don't get where New York just suddenly thinks 9/11 is all about them because I'm preeeetty sure the attacks were about America, not just New Yorkers. I don't see people in Virgina getting pissy because the Pentagon was hit. As a matter a fact, I don't hear ANYTHING about the Pentagon being hit. Did we forget while we were obsessing over the towers?
Still, Sarah doesn't know what the hell she's doing anyways. If it sounds like a conservative platform, she'll be there to toss in her two cents. I have yet to see her have a differing opinion that's not your typical right-wing agenda on anything. "yay morals and guns and god and all that"

One of the funny things about all this to me is that the Pentagon has a Muslim prayer room INSIDE IT. I'm not sure whether it was preexisting or was built after 9/11 but nobody seems to care about that.

(Well, that's one of the funny things. Another one would be the fact that there's already an actual mosque near Ground Zero, as well as bars, strip clubs, fast food joints and other hardly-sacred properties, and either a mall or a building with other functions that contains a large shopping area is one of the proposals for rebuilding at Ground Zero.)
