OKAY, YOU GUYS. The Allpocalypse, as you know, is taking place on Thursday, so it's high time I gave y'all a bit of a briefing on just what's going to happen once the hurricane hits the out-house.
In-game, events are scheduled to go down over a period of about six hours, from T-minus 6HRS, counting down to zero (Allpocalypse Now). However, because we know how much you all enjoy shenanigans, the actual threading of the endgame will take place over two days, starting tomorrow, so as many people as possible have the opportunity to get involved. (Slowtimes, of course, can continue running for the next
two weeks.)
Beginning around late morning/early afternoon EST Wednesday, the first of the two main Allpocalypse posts will go up in
milliways_bar. This post will be Millitimed to Thursday, and will cover the first three hours of the Allpocalypse. Each hour will have its own subthread, like so:
SUBTHREAD #1: -06 TO -05 HRS
SUBTHREAD #2: -05 TO -04 HRS
SUBTHREAD #3: -04 TO -03 HRS
Much like party posts, everyone is invited to interact within those subthreads, run around gratuitously threadhopping, reacting to events as they unfold, and generally joining in the free-for-all. Thursday's post will follow much the same format, and will cover the final three hours of the Allpocalypse.
Hold on, you say, 'react to events as they unfold'?
Mwahahaha. Haha. Ahem. Yes. With the gleeful co-mastermindery of those who came forward to
throw something into the mix, as many of said things as I could feasibly cram in have been smooshed together to create a core chain of events that will lead to the Allpocalypse, and to Milliways' eventual fate.
Now, what exactly those events are, I shan't spoil too much. But if you want to jump in with a character, here are some things to tempt your palate:
1.
Sometime between Hour 1 and Hour 2, ~certain events~ will lead to the
Darkgate being opened. In addition to unleashing another metric ton of negative serendipity and generalised evil mojo upon the bar and its surroundings, it will also unleash a swarm of nasty beasties - goblins and kobolds and wights, oh my!
(And, if we're feeling particularly evil - or if people request it - we may get one or two things that are even bigger and badder.)
Once the beasties are loose, anyone and everyone is welcome to grab a rock/chair/bottle/other patron and join in the fray. The fighting will take place mainly outside; however, if you want to have your character help beat down the occasional incursion into the bar itself, you are welcome to do so. Likewise, the beasties will come in waves, so if you want to thread your character doing things during a brief respite or a quiet(er) period, you can totally do that, too.
Also, unless you want to have one or two nasties detach themselves and chase your character down the hallways, any indoor fighting will be largely restricted to the main bar area. If any enterprising characters want to build a barricade on the stairs, go for it; otherwise, let's just say that no intruders manage to make it that far.
2.
Early on, a number of rather
powerful artifacts will be released from their current containment fields, and will be basically rolling around Milliways for the convenience of players. Many of these can be used as defensive weapons, hot-potato/paper-plane style. Pick one up, use it to blast some beasties, put it down again because the power is overwhelming/have it conveniently knocked out of your hands in combat/etc. so another character can pick it up later, and so on.
But beware! With the Darkgate open and certain other events transpiring, there will be increasing amounts of chaotic, uncontrolled magic roiling about. These and any other magical objects/spells/etc. may or may not behave exactly as described on the tin. Which is to say: if you want to have one accidentally "flare" and power up an opponent, or backfire on your character, or etc. etc.? Totally do it.
This also applies to any characters with powers/supernatural abilities/etc. Basically, the effect or amount of interference caused is whatever you want it to be. :D
3.
With all the magical ruckus going on in the bar (and with all the ruckus that will be going on outside the Observation Window, mwahaha), Milliways will eventually begin to get increasingly structurally unstable - both physically and metaphysically.
Certain
cracks may begin to widen. The Observation Window may begin to creak ominously.
L-space may begin to slip.
What does this mean? Up to you.
4. "But I want my character to ________!"
Do it!
Well, with some caveats. If your character would be running around trying to evacuate people, hop into a subthread and get cracking! If your character would be frantically tending to the scorched and singed and gnawed-upon? Jump right in! All we ask is that you keep Allpocalypse-related things in the Allpocalypse posts.
And if you're planning something that you think might interfere with, ahem, Other Plans (destroying an artifact, breaking the Observation Window, etc.), then just ask! I'll be hanging out in AIM chatroom allpocalypse for as much of the duration as I can possibly manage, so feel free to swing on by and check in, co-ordinate shenanigans with any other players that may or may not be there, or just say hi!
(And if you want to use the comments of this post to plan any hijinks, feel free to do that as well!)
