So this is my JASON MANNS IS AWESOME post. \o/
On Saturday night,
unperfectwolf and I went to Vancouver with
godlizza,
irish_runner,
locknessy, and
locknessy's sister to see Jason play at the Old Terminal Pub, which SPN uses for filming a lot. For the record, that is this bar here:
Caps by
oxoniensis.
See the table directly behind Sam in the first cap? That's where we were sitting, at least at first.
So after we got through the border (no wait time at ALL!) and ate dinner and found an ATM to get Canadian money because everything else was closed, we got to the pub pretty early and hung out for a while. Jason was there already, sitting pretty close to us, but he looked kind of nervous and scared, so we elected not to approach him and scare him more. :P
Then we met
canadiangoddess, who set up the whole thing and IS AMAZING. We knew of Sarah through
celtic_cookie, but we had never met her, and now we're thinking we need to get together again sometime soon. :D
So then Jason started! We chilled in the back for a little bit, then Kwen, Nesse, Sarah, and I moved up to the front and sat on the floor in front of the mic (NOT on the sketchy carpet). Jason played most of the songs off his album, plus a bunch of covers, and was smiley and joking around, even if he seemed a bit bemused that we had come to see him and were singing along to all his songs and stuff. It's not a huge space, and the crowd was about half fangirls and half locals, including this adorable older couple who danced to most of his songs even though they had no idea who he was. ♥ (They were the nice locals. Some of the others were not so nice.) After Crazy Love, he started telling us about his "buddy" who sings it with him--like every fangirl in that room didn't know who he meant--and then informed us that Jensen was golfing in Oregon with Jared. YES, REALLY. XDDDDDD
He took a break about two-thirds of the way through, and we talked to him for a bit. Somehow the conversation got around to cows at one point. *eyes Kwen* Jason is so shyyyyy and adorable, homg. I want to squish him lots. ♥♥♥
dea_liberty! I told him hi for you (I THINK I even pronounced your name right), and he told me to tell you hello back. It was really cute. :) Then we took this picture:
L to R: me,
unperfectwolf, Jason,
locknessy.
We also found out at this point that back at the table, Colin and Nesse's sister had been gambling during most of Jason's set. Canada has these flashing number games on the TVs in its bars, and apparently the lure was too much to resist. *facepalm* Colin fails at gambling, btw.
Then Jason played a little more and then signed stuff and talked to people and whatnot, and I took a picture of Jason and Sarah together and got a hug from him. He is very snuggly and warm. :D Our group was the last group of fangirls to leave because we were still talking to Sarah and didn't want to abandon her to the wolves. :P
Jason and
canadiangoddess (tell me if you want me to take these down, Sarah):
Here are some other pictures I took throughout the night. I'm sorry they're dark and grainy-- my flash doesn't go quite as far as my zoom.
I also recorded a couple of audio tracks. It was too dark to take proper video, but the audio from them came out pretty well. (I'm not sure what Jason's policy on this kind of thing is--if anyone knows, let me know if I need to take these down. Thanks!)
Hallelujah (about a minute and a half). SO GORGEOUS. The recording doesn't compare to hearing it live. *_* I'm sorry it's not the whole thing! We moved up front during this song, and then I had camera battery issues. :\
Brown-Eyed Girl. I grew up with this song, y'all. IS LOVE. You can hear me and Kwen singing along on the "sha la la" parts. :P The "dance dance dance" part at the end was for the couple that had been dancing all night.
Stuck On You / Let's Get It On. I was really pleased that he did this one, since the only other time I've heard it is someone's recording of him and Steve at a con.
Lay You Down. I am really not sure if that's the actual title of this song, but that is what I'm calling it. :P Ty, Kate. Apparently this is originally by Conway Twitty. It's a country song that Kwen requested--apparently he played it at the LA con last year.
WOOOOOOT JASON. :D
