I'm not a fan of victim-blaming. CALL ME CRAZY! I don't know exactly what happened, but when people complain they were made to feel uncomfortable my general rule of thumb is to believe them. Apparently thenyxie disagrees with this approach

Dude, I can't believe all this! I mean, I can believe it, but... I always thought fandomers were really nice, ya know? Like our lot with our recent meet-up. I can't believe someone would violate a safe place like a con like that. Glad I've never friended her now O.O

Yeahhh, all this stuff is insane. Some of thenyxie's fans/friends have been saying some absolutely disgusting stuff in her "defense" too (in the comments on her post). It's left me thinking to myself "....really?" And then I'm disgusted with humanity in general all over again. Sigh.

There have been some really horrendous things said that have made me so glad for the LJ notes feature ("victim-blaming asshole #1", "victim-blaming asshole #2'...) BUT the tide seems to be turning against her in her latest post, which has me so relieved.

I think the woman who implied that we were all being too sensitive by saying but don't all men go to bars and hit on drunk women? Why do you allow them to make you feel uncomfortable? Why not just hit them and walk away? There is literally not enough facepalm IN THE WORLD for that person.

Also: You cannot dictate other people’s comfort levels. Yes, this. There is a lot of this going on, and it's sickening. Thank you, Tree. ♥

That made me want to STAB people, my god. My best friend has something about her that drunk asshole guys find incredibly appealing and fffff the weird and uncomfortable situations it has put us in! But apparently we're just letting ourselves feel uncomfortable when strangers touch my friend's clothes? Oh okay.

The well I was fine with [x] so everyone else should be too defence is the stupidest defence in the world.

The anonmeme is actually a fairly cool place at times and I like it there (except for the times when I throw my hands up in despair and make DHSFGD WHAT noises.) It's not hate meme, it's a meme with occasional bursts of nastiness and hatred and occasional bursts of interesting discussion and lulz.
