I AM NOT GOING TO LIE, the 'do you know their ethnic background?!?' post that every single actor ever has on their imdb board is a source of ENDLESS AMUSEMENT for me. It's just so American.

So, hey, has anyone here ever been to Colombia?

There is a very slim chance that barthi and I will be going there, at some uncertain, expensive point in the ( Read more... )

Oh dude. Colombia is srsly one of the most beautiful countries in South America, and definitely does not get enough tourist lovin'. It's still recovering from its shitty (but well-earned) reputation of the 80s, but these days the majority of the country is just as safe as any Western European country. I haven't been back there since I was like, 12 or 13, but unless they chopped down the mountains and turned the pacific and caribbean coasts into a massive car park, I think it's safe to say that it remains fucking gorgeous ( ... )

I. May steal this reply, if you don't mind me. I keep getting RP characters from Latin America, usually connected to Columbia in some way.

I do not even know what you're talking about with the ethnic background bit. Am I not American enough for you?

I've never been To Columbia, and all I know about it is that it's famous for cocaine. Although, I did a project on Peru when I was in high school, and they actually export the most cocaine for that region. Just in case you ever needed to look for cocaine in South America. (What in the world was Columbia doing in England? Should I ask about your grandfather?)

I know nothing about Panama either, except that it has the canal. And everyone knows that so I don't think it counts.

GOOD.

I haven't seen it. I watched maybe an episode and a half, then stopped. Someone said I should just forget about it and watch the original, but I haven't gotten round to it yet.

:( This is why I don't watch the news.

It's more like Americans are too American for Americans. YOUR COUNTRY HAS THIS OBSESSION WITH BEING 1/4 IRISH AND 1/8 ITALIAN AND 2/3 POLISH AND 1/24 CHEROKEE. It makes me lol and I have no regrets :D

Well, barthi's plan IS to become a drug baron and/or emerald smuggler, so I think we might be onto something there. (There is a county up North called Cumbria. It sounded too much like Colombia for my puny childlike ears.)

I didn't know about Panama's canal! I am a Geographical failure.

NOW GO AND WATCH THE UK LIFE ON MARS IT IS SO FUCKING GOOD.

I am 1/16 Cherokee. I'm sorry.

Ah, good plan then. I'm glad my miniscule amount of knowledge could be construed as helpful. (Oh I've even heard of Cumbria. *pats self on back*)

I'm sorry! My Geographical skills could fill more than a teacup, but maybe just a mug, so I ASSUMED.

I WILL AT SOME POINT.

The one were you fly so high you end up sitting at the moon? If so, I have heard of it, been told is quite a ride. Ex-bf insisted he had talked to what could possibly be God.

Strangely enough, I´ve also heard it really helps you to find yourself. It would be a fun thing to try, I think...

Sadly, my knowledge about Columbia is mostly about the cocaine and the Medellin and Cali cartels. Which, while interesting! is not helpful for being touristy. Although, I HAVE heard that Bogota is a gorgeous city. At least, it was in the early 90s.

Columbia, as long as you STAY IN THE TOURIST AREAS/MAJOR TOWNS is a beautiful place. My surrogate brother just got back from backpacking through Southern American (From Mexican down to Peru, because he is nuts) and told us about it.

Panama, however, I am wary about. AJ went to Panama City by himself and was mugged (and he is a tall, strong, ex-marine). I'd suggest you and your friend be very, VERY careful, because two females in most of Southern America can be dangerous.

And I don't want to have to pay a ransom for you D:
