I really, really hope that this addition means Sam's many months of suffering will have a canonically lasting effect on him. Not even necessarily a face-grinding effect, just SOMETHING. Something with hugging.
The 'Six Months Later' hurt me so much. I THOUGHT 'OH, I'M SAFE, I'VE SEEN "MYSTERY SPOT" TWICE ALREADY, SURELY IT CAN'T BREAK MY HEART ANY MORE THAN IT ALREADY HAS', AND THEN I WAS PHYSICALLY SHAKING DURING THE LEADUP TO THE FIRST FEW DEATHS ANYWAY, AND THEN IT HIT ME WITH THE SURPRISE SIX MONTHS THING. SIX MONTHS OF SAM BEING ON HIS OWN AND FILLING THE VOID WITH OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOUR AND COOKING MEALS FOR HIS BROTHER WHO ISN'T THERE. STOP DESTROYING ME, SUPERNATURAL.
It's all right, 'Mystery Spot'. I still love you. My - my soul will heal. Maybe.
IT KIND OF DELIGHTED ME. There was a moment of blank staring and wait whating and then some trembling and a lot of hurting, but also an undercurrent of SHEER GLEE. I'm a terrible, terrible person.
... BUT NOT AS TERRIBLE AS SAM WILL BE WHEN HE'S TEARING WORLDS APART AND/OR GRINDING PEOPLES' FACES INTO WALLS FOR JUST LOOKING AT DEAN OMG.
Mystery Spot has lifted me out of the 3rd season doldrums, I tell you what. Especially after that malleus malificarim what have you mess. That, and Bad Day at Black Rock. Compare and contrast those two, as far as the Sam TEARING WORLDS APART vibe. Go from "I lost my shoe" to stabbity Sam with Bobby. Wow.
Ahahaha oh, um. Context. I've been making up theories for however Ava is NOT ACTUALLY DEAD for many months now.
Awww, I didn't mind Malleus Malificarim. Although it's got nothing on the majesty that is Mystery Spot. And Bad Day at Black Rock, too. AND I KNOW, IT'S CRAZY. CRAZY LIKE SAM IS CRAZY. I guess that's the link between shoe-losing and stabbity: Sam needs Dean to keep both varities madness from occurring.
Malleus Malificarium was okay -- I just so wanted the adultering husband to get his comeuppance, too. COMEUPPANCE, I tell you.
Ava is Lillith, exactly. Fits better than the whole Mary is Lillith theory I read the other day. But, YES. Reanimated Andy zombie would be lovely. With the bong and the gay porn, please!
akdkjdg we are such geeks. Just TALKING about Mystery Spot makes me want to (and somtimes I just plain do) jump up and down and wave my hands around and FORGET TO BREATHE.
1. It could well have been OVER A YEAR AND ALL. I mean, he managed to keep count of one hundred Tuesdays; you gotta ask yourself how many more it would take for him to lose count. OH GOD YES THAT EXTRA MEAL. Like he was just idek waiting for Dean to come back to him, just thinking he was gonna walk through the door and bitch about the health food ... FOR SIX MONTHS OHGOD SAM JUST OHGOD.
I'M GOING TO END UP SAT IN MY BED WRITING ABOUT FACEGRINDING AT 3 IN THE MORNING, I CAN FEEL IT.
2. askladjad yes SERIAL KILLER!SAM, that's EXACTLY IT. Dean would just. Lie down and give up and be all screw it, unless he could find some way to give himself up for Sam again. I just love it so, so, so much, that they react so completely differently to the loss of each other, and yet at the same time it' just exactly the same. Two sides of the same coin. They just can't even think

ROLLING IN MY GEEK HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVOURITE THING \o/
1. I just, the whole of that Robo-Montage. It makes me so incoherent with PAIN AND GLEE. Especially now it's been confirmed as SIX MONTHS OGOD. With the toothbrush and the way he eats so fucking mechanically and the right-angles and the ROBOTIC EYES OF DEATH, and how every single little thing he does is defined by the absence of Dean. *helpless faces*
THAT IS AN INCREDIBLY PERSUASIVE METAPHOR.
2. I've been doing by semi-regular S1 rewatch Thing, and every episode I watch I just keep thinking to myself 'were they incapable of functioning without each other here?' Possibly I shall end up pinpointing the EXACT MOMENT when they can no longer live when they're apart.
3. alksjaf I'm actually looking forward to the summer hiatus a little bit because I will just be free to IMAGINE MY SAM DOING HIS WORLD-TEAR THING. He needs to follow Dean into Hell, man. NEEDS.
ok because they just re-aired Mystery Spot here on TV last week and there WAS a subtitle for the robo-montage and I'm pretty sure it was "six months later" -- it stood out for me like hey, I didn't see that before -- so they must've added it in at some point before the re-broadcast last week!
