Lee and Tony arrived in San Diego on Friday afternoon and the Darkest Night panel was first thing on Saturday morning. Tony was impressed how Lee graciously fielded the questions of some really idiotic fans. Why would they ask Lee to bite them? He didn't even play a vampire! (Granted, Tony liked the biting, but that was so not the point.)
Also, how hard was it to accept that when a show was cancelled, that was it? Sending postcards to the execs probably wouldn't help. Sending garlic definitely wouldn't help. Sending blood...? Tony made a mental note to send a copy of the video of the question section to CB and get the appropriate restraining orders in place.
They tried to go down to the dealer's room, but Lee kept getting stopped for photos and autographs. Finally, Lee called in a favour and borrowed a couple of costumes from a friend. Tony wasn't sure about getting dressed up, but he was offered the space cowboy costume from Space Battles, complete with a toy laser pistol. Okay, totally geeky, but it was ComicCon, so why not have fun with it? Lee got stuck as the space cowboy's big, furry companion, because the mask would cover his face.
They were in line for autographs from one of the the Lightning Bug's stars when the guy in front of them looked up from his iPhone. "Holy crap! Some guy just got
stabbed in the eye in Hall H!"
Uh-oh. Tony remembered seeing a couple of
familiar faces pass by earlier and leaned forward to ask, "Was it a small, blonde chick that attacked him?"
Apparently the Twitter reports had vivid descriptions of gushing blood, but no word on who the attacker was, so Tony
texted Francine.
