Chocolates & Candles, Oh My

I. Godiva

The Godiva store people love us.

Because we come in to try one or two pieces of every new set that gets released. Because we'll walk back across the mall if they forget to ring things up. Because we are shameless in love and want to try of new things. Or our mad adoration of the things we do madly adore (like dark chocolate hot chocolate for me, and chocolate dipped Oreos from him). They know us on sight, by our faces, and we know most of the counter people now.

It's really amusing. We stopped by post my weekend trip, as seems to be pattern for if either of us is out of town. Godiva happens the next day. Or, you know, whenever they do their week early release of the newest line. We don't ever really get more than one of each new piece though. And they even call other stores and reserve things for us when we can't get everything.

I picked up a sample of each of the pieces in the Halloween line on Monday, though I haven't tried any of them yet. They are the Limited Edition Devilish Delights: Candy Corn Ghost, Blood Orange Bat, Death By Chocolate Skull, and Caramel Apple Tomb Stone. I'm thinking I may start recording my thoughts on these.

My favorite in the Bakery Dessert set was the Red Velvet Truffle (who's surprised? Anyone? Bueller?) and my favorite in the fall releases was the Pumpkin Patch Truffle and then the Maple Walnut Truffle (and I was so deeply saddened the Caramel Apple one was a mass flop for me).

II. Yankee Candle

Yesterday, while running errands and looking for Vibram shoes for Earl and his mom, we ended up at the Yankee Candle store where once again -- people love us. We don't really go to these places a lot, but we go all out when we do. It was hilarious telling the new girls a million times 'we already own that' as they tried to give us suggestions for things.

The Christmas scents are out but we've agreed to mainline fall until at least mid November. Since they were having a nice sale, we picked up a Pumpkin Spice for the empty space in the living room. We got another Autumn Wreath as we both loved it, and we'll be replacing Autumn Fruits with a Cranberry Chutney. Both of those are living room ones. I'm thinking they'll work out amazingly.

We also picked up two spider web, I suppose they would be placemats, but we saw them and we had instant-a same thought, about having them as the bottom of our Dining Room Samhain altar. So that's now on hand, too. (As a tiny precursor teaser, we did decide in December the kitchen candle will become Gingerbread, changing for the first time in nearly six months from Lemon Lavender.)

On the same line of people loving us though, that was started above in Godiva? We got asked to become special friends/guests of the Yankee Candle store. We're going to get invitations to Preview Parties of upcoming scents and to Friends & Family sales that are closed to the public. Earl and I were kind of all adorably in love with being loved. Even if this was probably the smallest trips we've done to either store in all of these months.

We may not do these things often, but apparently we do them with love & style.
