Savannah had taken it pretty easy today since she didn't have classes. Luck had arranged it where all four of her classes were on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and that left her Thursdays and Fridays pretty free

A pang went through Ronan when she said that, a brief thought that said, That could be me saying that, saying it openly. But it's not like he lacked for companionship, and, hey, things were complicated enough without bringing Johnny back into the equation. So he repressed, and hoped desperately that Savannah wasn't telepathic along with her other powers.
"That's good," he said, instead of everything else, instead of punching her in the face of sudden, irrational anger. He'd just said that he was okay with everything, and before she'd said that he really had been, but she wouldn't have said it like that, not openly, if she hadn't heard it, too -- no one would be that open if they weren't confident about it -- and maybe that's what did it; maybe that's what told Ronan that he had definitely lost Johnny once and for all, that there wasn't any hope left.
"That's good," he repeated, and smiled softly. "He deserves someone special." And he ignored the little voice that said she wasn't special enough, because he knew it wasn't true.
It was probably a good thing that Savannah was not telepathic.
She gave him a soft smile. "Thank you. I'm not sure how special I am, but he thinks I am and he means a lot to me, so I'm determined to do my best to make him happy."
"I won't do anything to hurt him, Ronan," she assured him. "I love him."
